Denver Botanic Gardens

Denver Botanic Gardens

Denver Botanic Gardens strives to entertain and delight while spreading the collective wisdom of the Gardens through outreach, collaboration and education. Our conservation programs play a major role in saving species and protecting natural habitats for future generations.

The Hosokawa Bonsai Pavilion provides the first opportunity for Denver Botanic Gardens to display a unique bonsai collection. The new greenhouse in the Pavilion will facilitate the display of tropical and fragile bonsai that would be endangered if exposed to Colorado's climate.

The expansion project also includes the garden surrounding the existing Tea House. This area is the focus of the activities of Shofu-Kai, Denver Botanic Gardens’ Tea Ceremony Society. The society includes members who have studied the rituals from Tea Ceremony Masters in Japan ensuring an authentic experience for visitors who attend their events and classes.

Denver Film Society

Denver Film Society

The cinema’s potential to transform as well as reflect society in all its diversity is what the Denver Film Society aims to recognize and realize.

Since 1978, the DFS has worked to promote the medium as both an art form and a civic forum, developing a program that includes year-round screenings, community outreach projects and renowned special events. It is in fact the only nonprofit organization in Colorado dedicated to engaging both its members and the general public in a lifelong, life-altering relationship with and understanding of film and film culture.

The twin pillars it has built on the foundation of this vision are the award-winning Starz Denver Film Festival, now in its third decade, and the Denver FilmCenter.

The DFS will have a booth in Artists Alley to discuss their current 15-film series Castles In The Sky: Miyazaki, Takahata And The Masters Of Studio Ghibli series showing through Oct. 4 at the Denver Film Center/Colfax. See all 15 films with a series pass and win an amazing prize!

They'll also be promoting an upcoming showing of the documentary Pray For Japan, which was produced and directed by the founder of TOKYOPOP and covers the aftermath of the tsunami.

Have you considered supporting the DFS by becoming a member? Show your appreciation for their interest in Japanese anime/live-action films! It also means handsome discounts on screenings in the future. Check it out!
