Weapon Question.
« on: July 12, 2012, 09:25:48 pm »
I'm doing a L4D Zoey cosplay, and I wanted to have duel pistols and a shotgun. I bought some costume ones at my local party store and haven't gotten a suitable shotgun yet, but I was reading the weapons policy and was worried so I thought I'd make sure they were ok here so I don't mess up or get in trouble.
They are black and metallic colored but have orange on the end. Would these be allowed? Would I need to get them peace bonded? What does that mean? This is my first year with weapons and I'd like to know ahead of time if I need to change things.
Edit: they are not airisoft or anything, they I believe are maybe cap guns but don't fire anything.

Peacebonding means that you have to take the weapons by the OPS desk so that they can inspect them and make sure they comply with rules. They'll also give you a little spiel about proper use and what you can/can't do. If the weapons pass inspection, they'll put a special ziptie on it in a conspicuous place so that Security will know not to hassle you about it.

As far as the actual guns being allowed, I'll leave that to one of the OPS people to answer.
Tell me now. Is there a man among you here? Is there no one who will stand up and try to fight?
Tell me Man, is there not one in all your ranks? Is there not one who values courage over life?

As Ronin said, Peace bonding is our way of ensuring that all props have been approved and conform to our weapons policy. We give our little speech about not brandishing it or doing anything else inappropriate with them, then attach a Ziptie like mark that shows you have been given the speech. As for the gun(s), You would need to repaint them a non realistic looking color, (for example, neon green) and leave the orange tip. so long as it doesn't look real from 50 feet away. As long as it does not look realistic, it should be fine. Just for clarification, even if it does not meet standards, you won't be "thrown out" or anything like that, we will simply ask you to put it in your room/car, or, if possible, adjust it so that it does comply with rules.  Does this help?
The great and powerful Ruckus will see you now. Pay no attention to the large man in ops on the computer, that's just James.
