Scifi gun policy?
(1/1)
Short_status:
hi i was thinking of making a halo plasma repeater
wasn't sure on how the rules apply to this prop.
i was gonna make it out of wood or cardboard.
could i use resin or aqua resin to make it more sturdy? also is bondo acceptable?
this will be my first con.
The Ronin:
Standard prop rules still apply, so nothing that's mostly metal of course. I'm not sure if you need to have an orange tip or not, since it's obviously not a realistic firearm. I would guess no, but final approval would be up to OPS. As always make sure to take it by the ops booth and have it peacebonded.
As far as construction goes, don't make it out of metal. I use fiberglass/resin/bondo on many of my pieces, as do many others, so you should be fine to use those.
Treefox:
That prop should be fine as you can tell it's not a real gun from 50 ft, the outline of it is completely different. That being said, please DO NOT make it black or metallic, use some unconventional colors that are brighter and obviously not related to any sort of realistic gun. Wood would not be an acceptable material as we're only allowing small wood practice swords, so please make it out of cardboard, bondo, tape (not metallic or black), resin, etc. Please also make sure to bring this to OPS department to have it further inspected and peace bonded, since it technically is in the gun family and we have a very strict no gun policy unless it's bright and rainbow-y. If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask, look forward to seeing it! : )
KoRnyRucKuS:
We revised the rules a few times after Treefox's post, so now you are allowed to paint it black or another realistic color, since it does not have a realistic shape. We would still prefer you NOT make it out of wood, a plastic or the like, or cardboard would be best. Just wanted to make sure you got the latest. It has been hard to keep up for both of us!!
