Author Topic: New Meet Up Group - Aurora, Centennial and Englewood Area? (Read 1240 times)

I read the “Otaku in your city” forum and it gave me the idea of posting this topic. I would really like to start an anime meet up type group. A group where we meet up like once a week or something (alternating places is possible) and having an anime viewing day. Every meet up doesn’t have to be an anime viewing day; we can do other things as well. Like for example, we can plan to do an anime viewing this Sunday, but then next meet up we can do some sort of fun activity like going to an arcade or something or doing something that gives us a chance to ramble on about anime and related topics.

Currently the area I live in is right in the middle of Aurora, Centennial and Englewood. It only takes me about 5-10 minutes to drive to each area. I am also only about 15 minutes away from Littleton and about 20 minutes away from Denver. So if this meet up group is to happen I would assume that anyone from Aurora, Denver, Centennial, Englewood or Littleton area would we welcome to join. I would also like it for people further away to join as well if they feel they can. Depending on where we will be meeting up on a certain meet up day I bet there are plenty of people who live around the same area who can car pull and stuff to make things less of a hassle.

To be honest with everyone I don’t really have anime loving friends. I would love to make some friends who are also into anime and enjoy watching it as much as I do. I think this would be a good way for people who share similar interests to get together and create some friendships

I am a pretty big planner and as I am writing this I already have so many things planned out in my head on how this could work. Like how we can figure out what anime to view and where our meet ups (that are not anime viewing) will be. Of course this is something I would like for everyone to be involved in.

So if anyone is interested in this then lets get this started. Start throwing out ideas and ways to make this better if it were to happen.

I hope the word gets around. I would love to get this started sooner than later. I can host anime viewings at my place since I have a hugh 51inch flatscreen tv and well as a spacious living room. I am actually going to have a friend over this Saturday and we are going to watch Gurren Lagaan and Slayers.

I'm also in the Aurora-Centennial-Englewood-Parker area. Sounds like fun.

I only have one problem... I work nights on the weekends, so if this is a weekend event I probably won't make it.

Hey guys...sorry I haven't posted in a while. I have been pretty busy with work and all...not to mention my birthday is next week, so this weekend is going to packed with birthday plans. Anyway, I want to plan an anime viewing at my place next weekend on Sunday, April 15th at about noon. I figured we can get together, watch a few episodes of anime and then talk a little bit about what we want to do group wise. I decided to pick the anime Shuffle for the first anime viewing. The reason I picked this anime is because I know a lot of people have not seen it and I have only seen two episodes so far lol. If anyone would like to bring some anime...we could always pick something else as a group.

I created a public event on facebook...so RSVP there so I can have a good idea of how many people will be showing up. My living room area shall be able to accommodate about 20 people comfortably.

Hey. I'm not sure what my weekend will look like yet but this sounds great. I moved to Centennial from Pittsburgh, PA about 8 months ago and haven't made any anime friends. Im sure I can make it here and there since I work 7:45-4:15 weekdays so unless I have other things going on weekends are good for me.

Hey. We had two attempts so far. Sadly I myself wasn't able to attend the second one so that didn't help our cause. I'm not sure if we are planning to attempt this again or not. I don't know if Artie will see this or not but I can ask her if we have plans to continue or not.

I have seen it Steve. To be honest I wasn't really sure about this group. I really wanted this to be an active group, but it is hard getting people...CategoryKing and myself are really the only active members. We have attempted two meetups and only one person showed up for the first one and no one showed up for the second. I don't want to give up on this group and would love to attempt again since I know there are tons of anime lovers in the area who would love to meet other anime lovers.

What I would recommend WingedFairyWolf is for you to join the facebook page for this group and we can discuss stuff there if you are interested. Maybe instead of meeting per week try making it long hr periods of meetings per month? Like once a month we could just gather up and do activities for around 3-5hrs?? Idk, I'm not very creative with this stuff but I would love to have meetings around Aurora, I never get to meet ppl lol. Weekends do sound good to me though.

So, maybe plan it out better and try to keep it up : ] I'm interested for sure.

I think a monthly meet up would be best also.

I joined the facebook group, and put up a link for my friends to check it out and join also. Hopefully we can get something going!!
