i am planing on cosplaying chane from baccano and wondering about her knives. i was planing on either getting costume knives from a costume store or making them out of cardboard and tinfoil and weather either of those would be allowed?

As long as the blades are not metal, they are typically allowed in.

I can also help to identify bootlegs, if you have a questionable item, send me a message and some pictures if you can and I'll get back to you when I can.

As Skrae said, non-metal blades are usually fine.  When you get to the con, plesae stop by Con Ops and have them peace-bonded.  They've got final say and are quite helpful.

Thanks for checking ahead of time!

Skrae and George are correct. Coming from an ops monkey, so long as the blades are not real, there should be no problem with them being allowed. We can't give the final OK via internet, but from what you described,  I would say your OK.

Well, heck, I figure I'll ask this here so that the info is available to others that are willing to put in the searching legwork.

I'm planning on resin casting some copies of real blades that I own. Would that be acceptable? If I do it right they will look HIGHLY realistic. Of course the sharp edges will be ground down for safety and chipping resistance.
Tell me now. Is there a man among you here? Is there no one who will stand up and try to fight?
Tell me Man, is there not one in all your ranks? Is there not one who values courage over life?

The only rule with blades is they can't be metal. Even if they look realistic, as long as they are not metal and you aren't brandishing it at people, you shouldn't have a problem getting it approved.  As always, we can't approve it over the internet, but I don't think there would be an issue.
