Starting up a con of my own...
« on: January 31, 2012, 06:23:37 pm »
Perhaps I should back track a little bit, I am part of a movie project and we are filming most of our stuff for the movie at a convention that we will be hosting and I was wondering if anyone would, one provide helpful tips for people just starting up a con and two be willing to help with staff since I will be acting most of the time and unable to support the events.

Rapid response will be appreciated and if you wish to get involved the director's contact info will be sent to you.

If you want to start a con, turn to good friends for staff. Random people on the internet may not be the most reliable sort.

You want to start a convention? I suppose you'd have to decide on a theme, then decide on a place to have it depending on how many people you plan to invite.

I haven't gone about it before, but making friends for booking a venue (because paying base booking fee can bankrupt you fast), generating some hype and hoping for the best seems to be the best way to go about it.
