I think constructive criticism is always a good thing, but a panel discussing bad amv's could be really hurtful and negative. And if it's -worst- amv's then it's very likely there won't be much good to say about them to contrast the bad, it could turn into a snarkfest really fast.
Also deconstructing someone's work without them there to defend it really isn't in the spirit of NDK; even the worst videos usually take a least a couple hours of work. I think you might have to get the creators' permission to show their videos in full, and who wants their stuff shown just so it can be insulted? Sorry to say, but this panel sounds like just an excuse to make fun of someone else's stuff while disguising it as critique. Showing only terrible videos doesn't create a discussion, because no one is going to say "But I like when the video quality is bad!" so all that's left is negative comments. We already have youtube for mean comments :/
Personally bad amv's are hard for me to watch, I don't think I'd want to attend a panel where I was forced to watch something crappy and then comment on why it's crap so I can get on to the next crappy video..
I think deconstructing amv's that are more in the middle for quality as well as some really good ones would be more productive; instead of only teaching aspiring amv editors what sucks so they won't..suck, teach them what works so they can be awesome!
Instead of "this sucks, this sucks, this sucks, let's laugh at the person who made this," you could do something more like a "Do's and Don't's of AMV Editing", maybe short clips of vids with subtitles, network logos, aspect ratio problems, and timing errors in comparison to similar videos without those errors, and people could talk about their personal likes and dislikes in amv's.
If anything, some VERY brave aspiring editors could apply ahead of time to submit their work or work in progress to have it viewed and critiqued by the audience. I think having middle-of-the road videos with good and bad aspects, or aspiring editors present, would be more educational and create a more respectful atmosphere.
