Author Topic: NDK 2012 Room Reservation, problems in the past (Read 887 times)

Hello NDK forums, and greetings from my apartment.

I have attended NDK for several years now, and every year I have tried my all to nag those elusive balcony rooms. In the past, I keep my eyes on the NDK home page, checking it at least every day, to see when the room reservation opens up. The past three years, I reserve my room the day that the rooms become available, but the balcony rooms are always taken. I always thought I was just too slow.

I recently spoke with a gal who said that she got the rooms on the first of the year for a few years. For me, the room reservations have always been available a least a month or so out, so how is it possible to get rooms in January? I am h***-bent on reserving a balcony room this year, so where do I go to do this?

My guess would be to check the Marriott site or call them up and see when you can get the rooms. I always reserve mine in the late part of january or february. Also are you referring to a balcony room or an atrium room? If its an Atrium room you're looking for you gotta get them quick, they always sell out fast

NDK and the Marriott cannot guarantee your reservation unless you use the passkey system. Please be patient and wait for the reservation link to be posted.

I know last year the inner balcony rooms sold out on the passkey system within the first three hours.

My first problem with booking rooms last year was that the passkey system had an option for booking multiple rooms with the same reservation, but it did not function. I specifically wanted to use this function to guarantee the rooms would be adjacent to each other, which I've been informed by several hotel staff and reservation specialists that the only way to do so is to have the rooms booked together, on the same reservation and card.

I asked about it at the time last year, received a response that it was being looked into, waited a couple weeks, never heard anything and had to book the rooms separately...and of course they were not able to give us rooms together. We even tried checking in together and they couldn't do it.

---Is this function going to be working on they passkey system this year?

My second problem was that I specifically made the selection for booking a room with 2 double beds, but when I checked in at the hotel they said that there were no notes stating that we needed two beds...even though there were 4 people booked on the reservation for the room.

@Ninja Squirrel the only reason I got a double bed is when I called passkey to add another hotel guest. I had forgotten to note it on there and had asked them if they could do so for me instead. They were more than happy to do so. And I do remember you asking that last time about the multiple rooms on one reservation. I'm sorry that had happened but the hotel should have been able to give you guys rooms right next to each other. That's what (almost) happened when my parents had taken only 10 minutes after us to check in. You should have been together anyways. And to answer one question that might have popped into your head by now, just as I have, my parents took two weeks to reserve a hotel after us on passkey. Sorry of I sound bi***y at any point. I was not trying to sound like that. Just a little agitated that the hotel staff didn't try to do more.

Some staff members made promises to give us a weeks warning of the post, is this promise going to be kept? It was a major topic of feedback for NDK 2011, making the hotel reservation system more fair for those of us who can't sit by their computer all the time waiting....

Jinnie offered to post up the passkey opening date a few days early about 3 or 4 posts down on this page. No exact date of "One week" or "Two weeks" specifically was promised.

It's a good idea to just check in on the forum and ndk front page every now and again to make sure you don't miss the announcement.
