Cosplay for you!
(1/1)

I'm really good at designing and sewing cosplay. I am willing to help out anyone with cosplay ideas. My mind is racing with what i should go as, but if you have your mind set and just need a few pieces, I would be happy to help find missing pieces or those hard to get parts. It'll be at a little to no cost, possibly the cost of the piece or for supplies to make what you need.
email me if that makes it easier: tweetybird012@hotmail.com
a pm is perfect if you'd like your ideas kept secret.

Hey! I'm thinking of starting my own commissioning business as well! I'm a first rate seamstress and.. no wait, that's a lie, I can't even turn a sewing machine on.
Sarcasm aside, if you want to start a cosplay business of any kind, you need to give more than just your word that you're "really good" at it. Providing pictures of your work is a must, and it's also nice to say what you can and cannot do.. for instance you may not be able to do heavily detailed embroidery, or make prop armor.

very good advice indeed! Let's see, well i will be less inclined to do props seeing as i am not very skilled with wood or metal. I did cosplay last year with my fiance and sister here's the link to our pics: http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150368594126079.399006.676621078&type=3
it was my first time doing any cosplay so adjustments were made to fit a budget. I really put myself out here as more of a helper in finding those last minute pieces, like for me last year i had the hardest time locating long sleeve shirts. So i guess all im saying is im here to help all you gotta do is ask. :)
Mahou Shoujo Michi:
..Your pictures really don't clarify anything. I'm sorry to be mean, but all in all your idea how it is, just isn't going to work.

Here you say that you're good at designing and sewing cosplays, yet you provide no proof. The link that you posted.. really doesn't say anything. What did you sew there? What pieces did you make? You need something like a portfolio, you need to take pictures of your work. If I asked you for a school girl uniform, could you do that? What about a large hair bow? Will you make someone a full yukata, or will you only do alterations? With all the commissioners out there, you have to be clear, concise, provide as much information as possible, and set yourself apart.
Saying little to no cost is also a rather bad move. It's too vague. You need concise prices.
Now while your offer to help people find missing/last minute pieces is nice.. ..... Well there are entire forums, topics, and threads dedicated to that sorta thing. It would be better to just be active in those.
Sorry if I'm coming across as too harsh.
soitsamystery:
You're not to harsh at all, I'd prefer any feed back over none.
The truth is I am COMPLETELY new to cosplay so of course I have no pictures of my work.(besides the link) As I said I did small cosplay ideas for my sister and fiance. What we did is work with what we had and I guess I am just offering to be that for anyone interested. I remember sitting online for weeks in search of any sort of help and all I found was too expensive cosplay and no replies to my forum topics. So I did research on my own and created accurate cosplay. I suppose I assumed not everyone has the time or the patience to search for weeks with all the weight on their shoulders. I hoped to come across as something to balance that weight.
Little to no cost implied we could work it out. As in if I had to drive to Colorado springs to buy a piece or fabric i might want like 10 bucks to help on gas. Or have people pay me back for online purchases. The point was to cut people slack and not let them feel like paying for the item in whole would be easy enough to not need me.
I see what you mean about my post, it lacked everything I was trying to put across. Again I'm new to cosplay and con's and anime, so I am positive everyone looked at this post and thought "NOOB"
I don't have a portfolio because I have only done last year's NDK and I didn't really sew any whole pieces. I did ALOT of altering, and ALOT of digging for that perfect shade or perfect fit for the characters.
I feel kinda stupid for putting myself out there as being "really good at sewing." I have made 1 dress 2 skirts and 3 pillow cases, I have a project in the process to be a stuffed animal and I knit/crochet scarves. I am in the hopes of becoming a great seamstress, working cosplay completely customized. But with no background or proof, i will not reach my goal without some practice.
To anyone reading this topic pm if you just want another friend to help with cosplay, because that's really all I can offer. :D
