Is real metal armor allowed?

I'm planning on making a real armor suit for my saber from fate stay night costume. But first I want to make sure it's allowed before I spend all that time and money on making it and it isn't.

I had no problems wearing my real metal armor for my Saber last year.

I think the only issue is with weapons with real steel.

We have used aluminum for armor in the past (properly rounded/protected on the edges of course) and had no problems. :)
