Ok I've been styling my own hair like Sasuke's for months now so, it depends on how good of a wig you have and if it will handle blow dryer heat. Because what I do is get it all wet, fling my head upside down and blow dry. Then add some hair spray and blow dry again to give it more lift. Then you totally spray it over and then spike out the tips a bit with hair gel. Not sure if a fake wig will work that way or not but a real hair wig does.

Then yes, if you want to make those definite hair spikes, caulk works wonderfully! It is shiny but it's the only thing that can make a wig look like that. For example if you want to do this:

Hair gel could probably do that but it won't last long. Calk will stay till the day we all dye O_O.

OR you could try doing this. Pull up some of the hair that you want to spike, hold it tight and then take a comb and brush down towards the base of the wig while you're holding it. This will cause some of the hair to bunch up and get real naty but it really helps hair stay stuck up.

Because it is. X3 You can sort of see the extra shinieness on the tips on the left side of the wig: http://images.cosplay.com/showphoto.php?photo=1151540

Ah, interesting.
Okay, how would I apply it? Just with my fingers, or do I have to dip the wig tips? (this is my first year making multiple wigs, so I haven't had much experience. ^^U)

All right, so this is what I'm reading: hang the wig and spray with hair spray, and then shape the ends. If necessary, tease the hair by combing some of the bunches towards the scalp. Is this correct? Then I use caulk on the tips.
What brand of hair spray should I use for kanekelon? I read once that certain hair sprays can damage a kanekelon wig, and I don't want that happening to my wig. :-\

I had found when working with the fibers that gel wasn't allowing me to get the style I wanted, so I made a watered-down solution of the hairgel and sprayed that on the spikes (unfortunately, afterwards when my sister tried it on that's when I discovered it had a tendency to fall.) So, if it's in a large, spiky mass as opposed to the larger, individual spikes, it should hold up longer?

Yup you're reading it right. And yes, the large spiky mass should hold up much better than just a few big spikes.

I hairsprayed it all up first to get the basic shapes of the spikes, and then just applied it with my fingers and chopped the final shape once everything was dry.

As for hairspray, any brand really works- just be sure it's of the 'extra stiff/hard' quality. I'm currently using this random stuff from Germany (XDD) but you can just go to the dollar store and grab a can.

Eeeep. Good luck with that- I've looked at a bunch of stuff on cosplay.com and Katie Blair's site (because people inquire a lot about Renji) and you basically have to make your own wig from scratch for that shape.

All right, I got that got2 glued - now I just have to wait for my new wig to arrive (I accidentally cut the other wig's bangs too short and a section of them stood up. I then tried keeping the part down with boiling water, but I poured on a little too much and melted that section of the hair >.<).

Again, thanks for the help! :D

Can you provide a picture? We might not be able to actually meet you in person, but we can probably tell you what to do.

:3 The back looks fairy easy. HOWEVER, the front, it depends on whether you want to make his hairline extended, or make it into bangs. :]

X.x I would say the front part is going to be nearly impossible to do in the time left till NDK, even if you did have someone who knows how to do that (you have to combine a wig with a latex cap and then pull through some of the hair through the latex to get a natural line). But the back you should be able to do yourself. Just get some super cheap hair spray (AqueNet is what I use. Seriously, the cheapest arysol can you can find will work the best) and have at it.

Er... Can a wig (fake/polyester) be styled with hair glue/gel/spray?
I'm going to try L now that my wig got messed up, but I don't know if the product I use will mess it up...

Not stupid, just learning.
You would not believe the seemingly stupid questions I asked that turned out to be extremely helpful in the end. :D
