Old School Award!
Katie:
FYI, to all you contestants a new specialty award was added to the costume contest last year. It was the 'Old School Award'!! To qualify the costume entered has to come from a series or movie that came out 1990 or before!
This year the rule has been changed to a 20 year rule. So the series or movie had to come out at least 20 years ago. So anything 1992 and previous counts. If you have any questions, just ask!
If you've got an old school anime costume its time to break it out!!
Edit: Rule update
Alitain:
Interesting. Though, curious question. Mind you I don't cosplay(not exactly, I dress as a ninja), but is this just being announced now? I ask because it seems like this might've been better announced awhile ago if it hasn't because some people may have done different costumes to try and compete in this category. But now, two days away, it's kinda short notice.
No offense I mean, just a curious observation. I mean I know people dress as various characters and I still see cosplayers of older series around so it's not like there wont be anyone to actually compete for this I'm sure.
Curucar:
Ooooh. I may or may not qualify for this, then. The Violinist of Hameln manga was first published in '87, but the anime came out in '95, but stuck very closly to the original art. *forever cursing '80s wasp waists*
Katie:
It was an idea that was thrown out a month ago and we weren't sure but when we got several people in the contest who would qualify for it I thought why not do it this year. There are also still many slots left for people to sign up.
So yeah it is a little late, but just because something is advertised in the rules or has been around several years doesn't mean we'll get more people. The JRock award that we used to have is a perfect example of that. We'd get the same group winning it every year because they were pretty much the only group who did JRock, even though it was put out there as something people could win, eventually the sponser decided to drop the award because it was the same group winning.
Curucar Hamel is actually one of the qualifying costumes. ^__^
Lunara:
YEEEEEEEESH!! If I had known I might've entered Shiris and Orson. XD (Actually, I just looked it up and it was released on June 30, 1990.)
That sounds like a really fun category. :)
