I am a single teen mom sadly. :/ I find finances so hard to manage. There are no cheap cosplays or anime's so I have had to step back on that.

:D I just had a child last april so Its still new but I did take him for a day of ndk last year and he loved it!  I'm not a fan of reality tv and current cartoons on nick/cartoonnetwork ect... so we watch anime, and he likes to watch us play video games.

He comes first but it's just part of our family.  Oh i should say I am married as well, my hubby got into it becasue of me and were doing a group thing this year! :D  I think he likes it becasue it's colorful, of course there are some that he's not allowed to watch becasue they are just not appropiate for that age.  It's something fun and we take time to watch the shows and i point out things to him and name them. like Kimono, and icecream and pretty girl! haha :P and princely character.  It's fun and he enjoys it very much.

Your never to old to enjoy hearty anime loving!  I mean what would you rather do?  Be sad about not doing what you love? Or enjoy it and share the enjoyment with your children? :D

Where are you from i think all us parents and prospective parents should do a get together somewhere :D

My daughter is 16 months and will only watch a few animes with me. She isnt one to sit in one place long. I live in Lakewood and it would be really fun to meet more otaku parents. :)

This is a cool topic. I'm going to become a momma this summer, so this whole idea is now becoming relevant to me. xD

I guess I have never worried too much about it, though; obviously I'm going to keep my children away from anime stuff that isn't appropriate for them at tender ages, but the fact is... I'm a nerd. I like nerdy things including anime, any I am just nerdy enough to include many aspects of this into daily life. (I am working on a fluffy Lolita picture to hang in my baby's bedroom when she's born. And I will be making her a Perry the Platypus outfit for Halloween; oh yes.) I'm not so much into anime or games as I used to be, but I suppose my baby will be fairly indoctrinated with the cute and the funny nerd things from a tender age. My husband's not really into anime at all, but he understands well enough and has his own nerdiness he'll be introducing to the baby.

So yeah... If it's something you're interested in and want to include any degree of it in your life, I say go for it. Family should come first, but that shouldn't be at the complete exclusion of who you are and what you want to do. And really, everyone's a nerd in one way or another. Nerdiness can be a healthy adult coping mechanism. ;3
