Kingdom Hearts cosplayers?
« on: July 16, 2011, 01:58:26 pm »
Hey, I'm going for the first time this year, and I'm not a great cosplayer as in I don't know how to make anything, nor have the money to buy something. But I am going as Sora or Roxas in an Organization coat (a western duster for me, and or a trench coat) and was wondering if anybody else is going as a Kingdom Hearts character. I'd really love to go with somebody going as either Xion, Kairi, or Namine.

If your around Windsor, and are going to go as one of those characters (or other KH characters) send me a PM to tell me. It'd be cool to exchange info and maybe meet up before the convention sometime.

Kind of, I think they're all together though, so that doesn't entirely help me.
But thanks anyway

The con goers are pretty accepting of new people to randomly join groups. Don't be nervous. And just an FYI I am going as Anti-Sora for awhile on Saturday of the con :)

Okay cool, my thought is I'd rather go with like 1 or 2 people who are closer to me, than an entire group. (It's easier and stuff)

There are a lot of Kingdom Hearts cosplayers at wasabi. The minute you walk in even if its by yourself there will be people to talk to and will talk to you ^_^. And hey if you ever need anything just go looking for the king mickey in the orgy coat i will help you out and hang with you. Also since your a fan of KH too there is a KH panel at the con as well come and enjoy it. And i know you and i will get along good maybe you are the one person that can finally challenge me at KH knowledge.

Thanks King Mickey, I'll do that, and I don't know maybe. I'm not sure how much I know about KH, I mean I've played all the games, but that doesn't mean my knowledge is spot on. And yeah I know Tamine, but that's for like one day. I'm trying to find someone close to me who isn't going with anyone who will possibly be going as the same character all 3 days.

Most cosplayers dont stay as the same character for the entire con... I have in the past but that was Riku with 3 different outfits... at anyrate... that group you were talking about on that link... we aren't a "group" persay... we all kind of met up on here and at con b/c we were like "HEY! YOU OVER THERE! I HERD YOU LIEK KH!" -gives thumbs up- People are always coming and going out of it, and sometimes a few of us will gather up and go with a theme (not all of us). So in regards for finding like 2 people to stay with the whole con....who only are cosplaying one thing... its possible... But in my exp (from my first con and in cons since) unlikely. But, I think you will find  that the more people you know at con, the more fun it is, because then you always have someone to walk up and talk to instead of getting separated and trying to find the one or two people you know and being swallowed in the crowd. So yeah! C'mon over! We would love to have ya and help you out. Also, if you want some ideas for cheap varying outfits of the same character... I have an Idea for you if you don't mind not being cannon. Also...if you are interested... I would check cosplay.com's marketplace for used wigs/org coats/props etc at super low prices. The gist is that you are buying from other cosplayers, who either are low on cash or are just moving on to other cosplays etc and want to see other cosplayers enjoying their stuff. So everything is reasonably priced if you did want to get something eventually. Anywhooooooo....that is my spill! Welcome to the fold! We are happy that you love what we love!

Thanks, yeah I had a feeling about that, I don't know, I guess I was just hoping for something like that simply because I don't have any close friends who are Kingdom Hearts fans. And I would buy some stuff, it's just that I just about spent everything I have on keyblades and wigs for my Kingdom Hearts fan project, and am too low on money to buy any costumes/coats etc. Yeah I'm a little unsure what to do, because my other two friends that might come with me (Not as KH characters, who don't even know that much about KH) might not be coming, because of money, as well as the fact we have to skip school Friday. And without someone that can drive I'm sunk, which really helps. lol.

I guess I'm just a hair confused, on a lot of stuff. :/

Well Rae basically took most of the words out of my mouth haha. Like she said that "group" isn't really a group just a bunch of cosplayers who enjoy the same fandom. Also along the lines of cosplaying other things, its always a good idea to cosplay from different series just to meet more people. I know that even though I like KH I don't always cosplay from it. But don't you worry, the first time I went to NDK I was sort of alone for a while but then I met up at the NDK forum member shoot and made some friends. You just gotta be brave and talk to some people. Don't be afraid everyone I've met has been super nice.

Yeah, the thing is I really don't have much to go with. The only reason I have the keyblades, (and a trench coat which passes as an organization coat) is because I'm making the video. So I really can't cosplay as anything else, I'm a lame cosplayer, I don't even know how to make anything lol.
And I'm still not certain if I can go, because it's dependent on if I can get some more of my members (who can drive) to go. Because apparently my parents are leaving on like 2 of the days, so if my friends can't drive up there I'm sunk. I really want to go, because I didn't even know there was a anime convention in Colorado until a couple weeks ago, and I've always wanted to go to some sort of convention. I'm positive I'll meet nice new people, I'm just not sure if I can even go. We're about an hour away from denver, and we're going to drive up and back each day. It just depends on some stuff.

Just because you cant sew doesnt mean you arent a good cosplayer. You can Buy costumes and Still be a good Cosplayer. Its not about your skills, its about how you fit yourself to a character. ^^ But yes, it is very rare to find a cosplayer who stays the same character through the whole convention. Your gonna have some trouble with it. :/ If you end up going you might have to take what you can find and Not be so picky about it..

Ah see im skipping the one friday class I may have to go to and going down to ndk on thursday... oh the wonders of college....but, on the other hand you don't HAVE to skip school. Out of all the days...friday really isn't big and action packed. The opening ceremony usually doesn't even happen until the evening, and my friends and I spend that morning lazing around watching people set up because we have no life. Friday is a more of a "get there so we are ready for saturday" day. As for a ride, I would post and see if anyone is coming from that direction when you need to go. There is also the bus system, which a few of my friends have taken to NDK. I'm sorry to hear about your friends probably bailing..I've had that happen to me before...it is depressing. Also, con isn't for a bit yet. But all and all just do what you can. The main thing is getting YOU there... as in your body. My first cosplays weren't done in time for con...I had commissioned them...so I made my cosplay out of my closet, and the first day I was there, A group of cosplayers picked me up and I hung out with them the whole weekend...as long as you have a love for KH you're good to go. Don't stress! :D In that respect....it is also good to keep a bit of money in your pocket for the dealers room XD.

Oh and sorry for stealing your thunder light...

Tamine - Yeah I don't think I care much about going with one person dressed up as the same character, since I believe you all now when you say I'll have fun no matter what and meet lots of new people. I'm simply concerned about whether or not I can go, because if my one friend can go he's 17 and can drive us each day, but if he can't, I don't know what to do. Oh and on the topic of cosplay, I would buy something, but like I said, I'm all out of money, whatever I have left I have to use on our KH project, and mainly it's just buying wigs. Trust me if I had money, I would get an Organization coat, Sora costume, and tons of other stuff. lol

Rae - Yeah I get you there, as for my friends, it's not as much as them bailing, as it is they might not be able to pay the price, as well as their parents might not let them skip school. Yeah I'm not sure what all I'm doing, I appreciate the post, the thing is, I'll have basically no place to stay unless I'm back to my house each night, which is why using my friends helped (that didn't sound the way I wanted it to, lol) and there's no way I could get to the bus myself if my parents are gone. Man I really hate that I live so far away from everything, and that I can't drive myself. Urgh!!!

But on the plus side, my version of Roxas and or Sora in an Organization coat isn't that bad. I'd post a picture, but I'm a little unsure how (on this forum)

Your not born a great cosplayer your made by going to cons and learning from other people. And if someone says your cosplay sucks just tell them you don't like it make it yourself. Also don forget to get your keyblades peacebonded (just a peace of plastic that they put on the the weapon saying you agree to the rules. You can ask someone where it is). But like I was saying before as you go to more cons your cosplays will get better

Yeah thanks, I don't think it's that bad. And yeah I'll make sure to do that with my weapons when I get there, I'll ask somebody lol.

(Still not sure if I can go) Hey just wondering, I know it says no steel weapons, but do you think they'd be okay with my steel keyblade? (Kingdom Key) Since it's not really a sword, I was just wondering if it would be different.
