Umm, im not sure if there has been a post about this already, and this is mainly for the NDK staff but i heard that this year NDK is Banning Caramelledancen? Im not sure why but i just heard it and wanted to see if it was true... ._.

...Okay, I'll admit, a LOT of NDKs policies make me face palm and go "REALLY..??". But all the same, what is with the recent influx of rumors and "I heard that.." posts.

"I heard that NDK is strengthening the dress code."
"I head they're charging for the rave"
"I heard they're banning_____"

O3o; Really, what is the cause of this..?

If you find out, we'd love to know. There are a lot of ridiculous rumors flying around this year; far more than usual.

To be absolutely clear: there is no ban on Caramelldancen at NDK.

If a costume doesn't run afoul of our posted costume rules or any other policies, then it'll be allowed.

Just to clarify, if anything is banned the staff will notify everyone on the site or here. The dress code rumor has been addressed already and was proven as false.

I think the problem with the caramelledancen is when it results in a conga line that disrupts the flow of traffic.

And the action of the staff disbanding these conga lines leads to the rumor that the caramelledancen is banned.

the Conga Lines get a Little too much.. lol. but Still just normal Caramelledancen seems fine. =3

Darn... oops, did I say that out loud?...

Sorry, but after going to a ton of conventions all year, you get really burned out with Caramelldancen, the Game, Buttscratcher, etc. The one time I didn't mind someone Caramelldancen nearby was when they did the whole dance, not just the endless Neko Mimi.

You know, I really don't think NDK staff would ban a dance, it is just something fun, then again, if you are a standing in line and someone in front of you does the dance in front, I think I would join in too.

That's just me, then again, I'm still trying to figure out what the heck is a yatta dance. Its still a rumor

Anyway, while I am not involved in that, I find it highly unlikely. Even if I were (ask Nogardous how much I hate the song), I wouldn't ban it just because most people find it fun.

Exactly what i was thinking. If they Banned A Dance, Then I would start to think that NDK is starting to get "Low" and at that point, I would just might as well forget going to NDK. (Not because they banned a dance, but because They would most likely ban other things...) but this is Great News!

One thing to keep in mind is that we do this for you guys! There wouldn't be a convention without attendees! We put in our hard work to try and make sure that attendees have a fun and exciting weekend. While it is true that certain things do get annoying after hearing/seeing them several hundred times in one weekend, we understand that its fun for the people doing them. We may break up conga lines for the sake of traffic but I understand that Caramelldancen is a fun thing for many people.

Thank you for spending all year voluntarily working to make us happy for a weekend; I’m sure many of you ,staff folks, also have day jobs that your work hard at, and then you still find time to work and make NDK happen.

In my opinion, they should ban the dance, and ban it from being played at the extent that it usually is at anime conventions.

You people have no idea how annoying it is to hear the song over and over, or how annoying the dance is... It is also extremely annoying when actual people do the dance, because it looks like crap...

I don't mean to sound like a jerk about it... But it is extremely annoying to a lot of people because of the extend it is played and danced to. Same with butt scratcher, and adventure time. They can be fun to hear and partake in... But NDK 2010 was like "Buttscratcher!" going on for about an hour, then adventure time. Caramelldansen was sung/played/danced to every few minutes throughout the con, and not just at one location.

I'm 100% against banning anything, sorry, been in a state where "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" and "Harry Potter" were banned and you know what, I think we should just say no to the whole banning in general. You should just grin and bear it for awhile, it is only for three days out of the year for some people. How would you feel if someone went around and banned what you like, I know I would be pissed if someone banned Vocaloid or Weiss Kreuz from being played? Don't you think that banning anything is wrong?
