Okay, considering we are getting off topic, I think we should still go back and think about some of the ways we can get people to bring canvas bags instead of using plastic. I'm actually going to be hosting a decorate your con bag party....lol, basically people bring a canvas bag and we put puff paint and our names on it

*Shameless self-promotion initiated*

I wont have a whole lot because they are super costly for me to make in small batches, but I'm actually making bags printed with my artwork for my artist alley table this year! I'll have lined tote bags and padded laptop bags, as well as some smaller drawstring bags, coinpurses, and pencil bags. Due to financial constraints I can't afford entirely organic fabric, but the bulk of the material will be organic linen-cotton canvas printed with eco-friendly water-based pigment inks. ^^

Also, I'd have to get a few before I can justify the cost of the fabric (I have it printed with my art and then I do all the sewing myself), but I'll be taking commissions at the table. So if you want a sturdy canvas bag printed with custom artwork of your favorite anime character, hit me up! XD

*end shameless self-promotion*

I would also totally buy NDK totebags at Merch. Those neat ones I see everywhere that are made from the recycled grain sacks and such would be super cool, even with just a simple NDK logo on 'em. I've never bought the NDK t-shirts but I would -so- buy a bag printed with the art from the program or badges each year, just sayin'.

On a dealers room related note, here are a couple of friendly reminders ^^:(sorry if this is at all jumbled I am tired but wanted to put in my thoughts)

As mentioned before, we are going to start getting more strict with what we allow in the room due to the growing number of people in attendance. We haven't yet gotten to the point of hitting the cap and all of our resident con attendees know how packed that room can get with our current numbers. If you do bring your own bags try to keep them small or we may ask that you either check it with us or leave it in your room.

If you do turn down a bag inside the dealers room please be sure to keep your receipt! Many of the dealers sell items that are similar in nature. If you buy a manga from dealer A, and then walk into dealer B's booth with the manga in your hand they may think that it was theirs and when you walk away, they know you didn't pay at their booth causing confusion and unnecessary stress. If something like this happens the best thing to do is to calmly show dealer B your receipt and apologize for the confusion.

If any of the dealers (or staff members) ask to see a receipt  please know that we do not suspect you of theft but have to make sure. The idea of keeping a bag zipped if possible is a smart one. We have many people to keep an eye on throughout the weekend.

With that said, the bags that are sold in places like wal-mart or other grocery stores are recycled materials (Not plastic like many canvas bags) and will break down in time. This is a great idea for going green! Anyone who brings these bags to carry things around in and turns down plastic is doing a good thing for our environment!
