We do try to make sure the room doesn't get OVERLY full by doing one in one out when traffic is extremely high. This means that if five people come out we let five more in. This is rare and we mostly try to use it during moments of highest traffic like Saturday at opening and I can only recall needing to actually follow it twice.

So I have a question about the bags. I carry a messenger bag with me to carry my purchases. I was reading that we may be stopped to check it. What exactly are the rules on this? I have to carry a bag with me (money, wallet, makeup, etc) and I don't carry a purse when I carry my bag. So whatever bag I bring, I want to make sure I'll be able to carry it with me in the dealer's room.

I raised the same concern about my messenger bag, and another person I think as well, on the first page of this topic.

Basically, from the answers given it's a "maybe".  Their main concern about messenger bags is if they stick out and could cause issues with people moving through the DR, as well as possibly messing with dealer tables.  But yeah, so in regard to messenger bags being able to be taken into the DR, maybe is the answer.

Like I mentioned in my response, I'm going to go find someone Friday when I get in at the DR/prop check and ask if my bag can be taken because yeah, like you I have a messenger bag I use to carry stuff around the con.  The whole point I got it was actually so I can carry things like snacks, purchases, etc.  And then I finally had a place to put all my patches on it as decoration so hopefully it'll be fine, but that's what I'd suggest to you.  Before you try to get in, go to the prop check and ask someone to save time.  Especially since they'll have two lines now.

Thank you Alitain, that is correct. It is hard to give a straight answer with only the term "messenger bag" because unfortunately they range in sizes and bulk. Feel free to stop by the prop check table and ask if it is okay. One thing to note however is that we may say yes on Friday and no on Saturday (due to higher traffic). If you have any other questions regarding the bag policy please go back and read earlier posts and if you still don't find your answer feel free to let us know ^^ thank you! I can't wait to see you all Friday!

Out of curiosity, a part of my costume this year is a sombrero.  Not like huge, just a sombrero probably goes just past my shoulders(average shoulder width).  Would that be considered something that would need to be checked at props?  Normally I never wear hats or anything that "sticks out" in terms of costume, so I'm not sure.  I mean I've seen people with various costumes and pieces in the DR in the past but figured I'd ask since this is a new year.

I'm not able to make that decision without  seeing sombrero in question.  Expect that you may be asked to check it, and that it may depend on traffic.

I can also help to identify bootlegs, if you have a questionable item, send me a message and some pictures if you can and I'll get back to you when I can.

To summarize, stop by and say hi to our lovely prop check staff if you have a question about a bag or prop. It doesn't hurt to ask :)
