Changes to the Dealers Room

Hey everyone,
We just wanted to let you know that we are making a few changes to the prop check for NDK 2011 please make note of the following things:

1. ENTRY WILL BE BASED ON FIRST COME FIRST SERVE! There will be no pre-reg early entry.

2. There will be two lines to enter the dealers room, one for props and one for those without props. This is to allow people without props quicker entry to the room.

3. Backpacks, large purses, wings or any costume pieces/props that extend beyond your body are not allowed in the Dealers room and you will be denied entry if they are not removable.

4. We will not be taking any luggage. If you check out early and want to come into the Dealers room, you can leave your luggage with the front desk/concierge desk.

5. JUST AS A REMINDER! CAMERAS ARE NOT ALLOWED IN THE DEALERS ROOM! They will either need to be left in your room or checked. We will have a special section for cameras.

I always pre-reg but never end up making it to the Dealers within the pre-reg early entry time slot XD so it doesn't make a difference to me, but can I ask why you've decided not to do it this year?

I imagine it's about streamlining the whole process with the new rules about props and such.

Also, I've learned that a lot of people don't check the forums, and that this particular section (Dealers/AA) is particularly off the beaten path. You might want to post this info in the Announcements section or sticky it in the NDK Discussion or something; everyone I'd told has been a little miffed, so I hope you don't have too many surprised and/or angry pre-reggers at con who really care about getting into Dealers FIRST ^^;

So I'm guessing that messenger bags would fall somewhere between backpacks and large purses? Just wanting some clarification since I was allowed in the Dealers room with mine last year.

I have the same question myself.  I got a messenger bag two years ago specifically so I can carry stuff around on the con floor, and it's helpful to carry purchases made in the dealers room.  But if not, no big I'll just leave it at the desk before going in.  Though, does a messenger bag/backpack and all count as a prop, and thus having to stand in the prop line?  Because I can only imagine that line taking forever to go through.

Well I can't say I'm happy about pre-reg not getting early roaming privileges, but that's the breaks.  Can I ask why though?  I mean I get the separate lines and all, but why no perks for pre-reg?  I mean I'm all pre-reged even though I'm so strapped for cash I probably wont be buying much of anything at the con this year, and I definitely don't prereg just for early dealer room privileges, but yeah just curious.
