@Rippy - Awesome!  It's so cool to hear about some of the other festivals in the area.  The Sakura Festival peeked my interest.  Sooo... What kind of music festivals are there?  I went to Jazzfest in New Orleans, which was AMAZING.  I wasn't even that "in to" the genre, but it definitely helped me develop an appreciation.

oh man, there's so much in colorado. best thing might be to google it, cos no one is gonna remember them all.

@ rini & Rippy - Oh yeah, I'm sure there's a ton!  Hopefully I'll run across things online/in the news/via word of mouth, before the day of.  XD That happens in Cleveland a lot.  There's so much going on that some festivals I want to attend pass by before I remember they are happening!  ^^;  (Which reminds me I need to check the date of a certain cleveland street fair that usually happens in May...)

Don't forget the Taste of Colorado and the People's Fair, both at opposite ends of the calendar. There is also a Greek Festival and the asian Dragon Boat Festival.

Also, since you say you're moving downtown, you may want to keep an eye on the Rockies schedule because LoDo is crazy durring home games.

Yeah, I think half that area shuts down during the games, I think that's totally scary at times

If you try out Duffy's Cherry Cricket on 2641 East 2nd Avenue in Denver, will you tell us what it's like? "Man vs Food" described one of the burgers he tried as a borderline religious experience.

I've eaten at the Cherry Cricket and while they have a really good burger I think the restaurant is a little hyped up. You can get any number of their great burgers or create one of your own.

I found the atmosphere to be too crowded, and while the burgers were pretty good, I didn't find them to be mind blowing, and honestly more than a little over priced. But if you're looking for a good burger you won't be disappointed, but I would go in expecting an above average burger joint, not burger nirvana.

If you want the best burgers and wings in town the place I work has those. Shifters bar and grill in 58th and Quebec.

If you really wanna meet more anime folks from NDK why not hit up a meetup or two?

Every other Friday we have karaoke. It has changed in that area with a new karaoke guy since last you was there Rippie. Better guy with a diverse song list. Same drunken fun lol. But in all seriousness Shifters has good food.

Hi everyone!

In June, my boyfriend and I are moving to Denver, from Cleveland, OH!  We've gone to the cons in Ohio and really enjoyed them.  We are both super excited to attend NDK!

I'm hoping you guys can help us out though...  We literally know only 3 people in Denver!  We are looking to meet some fellow anime-fans and make new friends before the con!  Does any one have any recommendations for some anime clubs or events that we should check out once we get to Denver?  We don't mind driving a bit  :)

And while I'm putting things out there, maybe some recommendations for awesome places to eat too?  :D

<3 <3

Thanks in advance!  Looking forward to seeing some of you at the con!

Hi everyone, I'm the boyfriend that HazyRaven was talking about ;D Thanks for all the great recommendations! I can't wait to finally get out to Denver and start exploring. And yeah, looking forward to meeting peoples at the con this fall as well!

Biker Jim's Hot Dogs, 22nd and Larimer - DELICIOUS hot dogs, try the pheasant holy crap! He also has two cart foods around town.

Steuben's - sandwiches, burgers, and everything in between

Sweet Action - ice cream shop on Broadway just south of the Mayan Theater, TRY IT!

I encourage you to partake in any and all taquerías you come accross. TacoMex on Colfax is like Mexican Disneyland!

H-Mart down on 225 and Parker is a great place to get exotic or eastern foods.

I'll go ahead and say it - Hamburger Mary's on 18th. DO IT.

Hi everyone!  Just wanted to thank you again!  We've been exploring Denver and checking some things off the list, and finding other great places in the area.  So far, from here, we've been to:  the Tattered Cover, La Casedas, the Sakura Festival, and we're planning on the Dragon Boat Festival as well.  Can't wait to go through everything!  Especially looking forward to Sweet Action.

Do any of you go to the free concerts in the park?  Or the movie nights in the park?  We went to one of the free Jazz concerts [it was swing music, so we had a chance to dance] and we really enjoyed ourselves.  Just wondering who else goes!

Denver is a foodie town.

Let's see, there's India House @ Belmar, Moe's BBQ on Morrison (haven't tried the one on Broadway), DeliTech is currently w/o a home, 240 Union if you want white tablecloth, Kobe An on Union, and of course Chipotle's. Bear in mind, here on the western slope when they say hot, they tend to mean it. Jalepeno's are considered mild here.
Well, ya see, I'm not saying that I've been everywhere and I've done everything, but I do know it's a pretty amazing planet we live on here, and a man would have to be some kind of FOOL to think we're alone in THIS universe.
