also, should add a couple things: 1) the hackers also got DOB (date of births), and 2) they got your answer to your security question. this means you should monitor all accounts you have, including bank accounts, netflix, credit cards, mortgage, even your freaking library card. anyone with half a brain, who has your physical address and your DOB can steal your identity in <5 minutes.
just as an example: knowing your DOB and your address, i can find your SSN, obtain your work record, your credit record, your academic record and have access to all your health records in about 5 minutes. and, this isn't an exaggeration. if you have a mortgage, i can go in and change all your passwords and account settings. mind you, i have a few more tools in my profession that some hackers may not have; on the other hand, they may have more tools than i do.
so, my professional opinion: monitor all accounts for at least the next 18 months to 2 years. if these are smart hackers, they would have sold all that information to 3rd parties, and can be used for a long time. to be on the safe side, i'd close accounts and re-open them, letting the financial institutions know what happened, and ask for extra security. however, this doesn't stop them from opening credit card accounts in your name. there's no real way to stop that.
