Wow, insider information is really helpful XD, thank you. I didn't know about the Waldenbooks thing, really. That they were owned by Borders, that is, but I'm not surprised.

You do have a point about the wise decision being for Levy to sell the company to someone who actually wants it, but do you have any idea why he didn't? I mean, he ran a company successfully for a long period of time, he's not an amateur in the business world.

Loved the epic metaphor at the end, by the way.
If you don't know what to make your signature, make this your signature. People might get mad when they read it though. I mean, all you're really doing is blathering on about nothing and taking up time that they could be using doing something productive like posting.

You know, I sat for a while trying to figure out why he was all of sudden closing without much notice but keeping the other Tokyopops open in other countries. My only thought is maybe it had something to do with the Tsunami. I know that he was deeply moved by the disaster like the rest of us, but he went further than that he was there and helping them out. Now he is going to stay there and make a documentary about the aftermath and so forth. It makes me think that maybe he looked at the whole deal, knew that to revive Tokyopop here would take too much time and effort, yet his other Tokyopops would continue to run and survive without him, so he killed it here so that he could focus on the Tsunami victims and on helping out over there.

It's one of those things that we may never know. I just hope that he takes enough time out to let his company do the right decisions for the series they still have.

Thank you, I wanted to end it with a final note that would stay in your mind. XD
Smile! It does a body good. Or at least makes people wonder what you are scheming. :)

Yeah the idea of Stu just getting bored with it does seem very likely, I mean they were looking at so many new things like new website designe with print on demand, and a few style of manga, and borders knew it was going to have to down size months ago, and it doesn't seem to fit with how suddenly Tokyopops closing is.

But you know I wouldn't be surprised if some of the people who we're let off because of this didn't start their own manga company without Stu.  They are more than capable, in fact they might find that things would get done sooner and a whole lot nicer if they didn't have him there at all.  No more of the "America's Greatest Otaku" style of publicity and something more fitting to the demographic.

But that is just speculation on my part, but a lot of good has come from Tokyopops "failures and issues" before, I don't see why this couldn't be any different.

Ditto, I'm going to buy mine with my next pay check, I have several that I need to buy. Its a worry when some of the great companies just end up closing on us and its going to be terrible. Kind of glad I picked up "Spring and Chaos" when I did,  this is just becoming harder and harder to get some series now isn't it?
