Well P.Pirate there's one reason right there. Also 3D is cheesy as it gets. Just because it's 3D doesn't really boost the entertainment that much.

Yeh but the 3D isn't the only new thing about it. It is the next completely new nintendo handheld... meaning, it has new games. Those are the entertainment. If you are one of those people that think that 3DS games will be able to play on the regular ds, or that nintendo will keep making good ds games, then you are wrong. You will not be able to play kid icarus: uprising, zelda: ocarina of time 3D, or metal gear solid 3 on the original ds.

The last good ds game is going to be okamiden. After that, the only new ds games that will ever come out are movie games and sport games... and we all know that those tend to suck.

Other new things: First nintendo handheld to support netflix, first nintendo handheld to be able to record videos(after a firmware update), first nintendo system to have an actual friends list, has 8 or so games built in.

i don't have the patience to wait 3-5 years for a price drop for a completely new nintendo system that already has more good games confirmed for it coming out within the first year than the wii has.

Seeing as the average for systems to hit a decent price drop is their second holiday season I think I can wait a year and a half. I have at LEAST that much of a backlog of games to play through with the limited amount of time that I actually get to play my games.
Planned cosplays for 2012:
Big Boss (Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater), Black Waltz 3 (Final Fantasy IX), Nappa (Dragonball Z), The Stig's Spartan cousin (Halo/Top Gear mashup)

I played the demo of the 3Ds this past weekend. Oh gawd the horror :o  The 3D is so unstable and its hard to focus and sadly it's better that  you can turn the 3D off :/

I have mine and have been loving it. The AR games it comes with are fun, and I get so much enjoyment out of Face Raiders, especially when I give it to someone else to play. Watching them spin around trying to shoot all the faces flying at them is a whole new level of entertainment. A spinning desk chair really helps with that game.

I picked up Super Street Fighter 4, and well, I'm not good at fighting games, but its pretty, and they do utilize the touch screen to make it easier to pull of some of the big attacks. The 3D camera does take some very good photos as well.

You do have to hold it at a certain angle, and not get it too close or too far away, or it does get a bit wonky. On the plus side, you can change how strong the 3D effect is, or turn it off all together. After about two hours of game play, my eyes are strained, and the world looks just a bit off. Few minutes later, I'm back to normal.

Not many people in my area have one, so I have yet to be able to use StreetPass to its full advantage, but I have high hopes for NDK.

The one big drawback I have for the system is the battery-life, about four hours per charge when playing 3DS games, and it states it can take about 500 charges before the battery startes to lose efficiency. It does look like the battery is fairly easy to replace, however, so I'd expect to see one with a longer life hit the shelves soon.

^_^ Cool someone other than me actually bought a 3DS.

:S I wonder why everyone complains about the 3D.  I have no problem with it.  It is really good for what it is.  I only start to have trouble with it when I have been playing in 3D for more than three hours.  That is just because my eyes get tired.

That's one thing I don't like. As an average fighting game kid, I think that's what makes practice worth it. Just pushing a button to do a move comes off as cheap and un-challenging. If there's something I can't pull off then I just suck at it and need to train harder.  :o

Speaking of touch screens.  Is anyone as annoyed as I am about where they decided to place the stylus on the 3DS?  It messes with me, I am still not used to being able to pull out the stylus without thought.  I always find myself scraping at where the DS stylus used to be.  >_> it drives me up the wall.

It bugged me a bit going from a DS to a DSiXL, so it changing again is not that much of an issue for me. I'm already starting to reach where the stylus is now.

There is mode to turn it off, and when fighting online, you can enable a feature that makes sure you only fight other people that have the quick buttons disabled. I've been mostly playing it for the pretty, and the quick buttons are a help for me to not get tired of the game as quickly as I would have otherwise. here I would say, to each their own.

I find it's not so bad to be placed there, my main issue with the stylus is that it's so small. It doesn't fit in my big ol' bear paws. I'm also waiting on another set of armor for it so it fits in my hands a little easier.

Do you find it too short, or too narrow? While it is rather short initially, its ability to extend to about twice its stored size is nice. Of course, I do still tend to use the Dialga Pre-Order stylus from back when Diamond and Pearl were released.

Has any one had any Street Pass encounters yet? I only have one other Mii in my Plaza, and would love to encounter more. Alas, probably not until NDK will I get to see any major number in the Plaza.

Oh...right...extends...um....

Guess I should have read the manual better. :P Thanks! My one major complaint with it is now resolved.

I haven't really traveled anywhere with my 3DS on, so I haven't gotten any new Miis.

Oh that Bob ^^

How does that infrared thing work? I know on the StreetFighter 3DS commercial they said it picks up on people as you walk around town n'such. What happens with that?!?

Sadly, I have not run into any people with StreetFighter 3DS yet, but from what I understand, you create a team that gets sent over via Street Pass, and, in theory, the 3DS has created an AI that performs similar to how you play offline, so it is actually like playing that person.

This is an I think, as I have yet to get to do so. I'll check the manual once I find it, and let you know.

hey hey well i actually came on to the forums for the first time in a lil while.

I am loving my 3ds... No complaints whatsoever, not even the battery life bugs me.

Though... I really wish Zelda, Cave Story, Kid Icarus, or starfox would have been a launch title. I dont really like the launch titles. The best 3 are probably rayman, pilot wings, and street fighter. But rayman 3d is just like... the 20th port of rayman 2... and pilot wings is fun but only lasts about 6 hours and is then boring, but has amazing 3d effects. and street fighter... i like the use of the 3d and how smooth the online mode is... however... i am not a fan of slow paced fighting games... so street fighter bores me. I'll stick to marvel vs capcom 3, blazblue, and super smash brothers.

Though... there is a ton of built in games for the 3ds. They won't last as long as a good retail game, but they all use the 3d effect pretty successfully, and are amusing.

It also makes certain ds games look better... like battles in pokemon black and white... are not nearly as pixelated. But some games like golden sun: dark dawn look a bit blurry, but it still looks fine, and theres a way to change the resolution for ds games.

The 3D camera works amazingly well. The resolution is pretty outdated and looks like that of a phone from about 5 years ago... But thats when viewing the pictures without the 3D on. With the 3D, the pictures look completely amazing, and it makes up for being outdated.

I have gotten 3 streetpass miis. One from a guy in my geology class, one from an employee at a gamestop i went to, and one from some random guy I don't even know. I plan to get a lot more at both starfest and ndk. Also, street pass works really well... just put the 3ds in sleep mode and walk around. Sleep mode barely drains the battery at all, so you really don't need to worry about it very much.

And the 3D... the 3D is not the cheesy as hell outward 3D. It is inward and looks really really good. I played pilot wings, and I must say... before that moment... I have never smiled simply because of the display of a game. the 3D looks great, and idk why people complain about it. It's hard for me to lose the "sweet spot" and even if I do, it takes like half a second to get back to it.

I do not feel eye strain, even after a prolonged amount of game time, and its just... a perfect system for me.

Though... I am a bit iffy about the stylus placement. I liked it being on the side for the ds lite... but the 3ds stylus placement is the same as the original ds. So it isnt that bad.

But overall, even without any good games so far, I see the massive potential the 3DS has, and I do not regret spending any money on it. It is definitely worth getting. It is a great system.
