Hey y'alls, I was just thinking it would be fun to hold a casual lunch/dinner meetup at a local restaurant. By casual, I mean just a group of us gathering at the restaurant to hang out and get to know eachother and just have an all around good time chattin bout our common hobby or whatever else. If there is enough interest (AKA even 1 other person as far as I'm concerned, lol) we can do this every month or 2 at a different place till we been everywhere in town!

Next proposed date: Jan 22
Place: HuHot Mongolian Grill
Time: 12pm

Few tips:

1. If it's a Sunday, parking downtown is free.

2. Weekdays downtown are CROWDED, especially because of all the businesses.. weekends tend to be less crowded.

3. Actually..Unless you're going for the sushi, Fujiyama is rather decently priced. For example you can get a bento box, which includes teriyaki beef,salmon or chicken, salad, tempura, rice and two pieces of a california roll ( THEIR CALIFORNIA ROLLS ARE GODLY) for under $9.00

4. Right across from the restaurant is a nice coffee house. Not only do they have coffee.. but tea, sodas, and milkshakes ( over 100 milkshake flavors!!) ..there's seating upstairs and downstairs, and on occassion you can even snag a couch. So depending... if might be a good place to hang after lunch to chat.. also free wifi Ã¢â„¢Â¥

Alrighty, that means I am already favoring Sunday, both cause I hate driving on crowded streets and the free parking.

I see what you mean, the lunch menu is considerably cheaper than the dinner, but I almost always go around dinner time AND get 1 roll of sushi to boot so my tab ends up being on the high end... thats why I only go like 2-3 times a year usually, lol. But if Sunday is the day then dinner time (5-9pm) is the only option, hopefully they will still serve the lunch menu if we ask (its mostly the same stuff anyway just different portion size, shouldn't be an issue right?).

The coffee house could work too, would be a good place to migrate to after everyone eats. It's been forever since I set foot in a coffee house (being basically a redneck, I dont really fit in all that well with the cliche coffee house crowd, so I don't go to any unless I am already with a group of friends

).

I would love to go and hang out with y'all. The only problem would be me getting a ride there xD I'd say count me in for whenever as long as it's on a Sunday and not a weekday or something (assuming I get a ride). Fujiyama sounds delicious, 'specially because I haven't had much to do with Japanese/Asian food and such lately. But this sounds like a great idea <3

Oh man, EVERYONE who wants to come should be able to!

I got room for 5 ppl in my car, so I can give you a ride if needed. I guess once we get a few more ppl we could plan what the most effective ways to carpool would be.

Hm.. to be honest.. I'm not sure how crowded the Fujiyama is on a Sunday evening. @_@ I know the few times I've been there for lunch on a Saturday, all of downtown seemed.. ..dead.

xD Never actually been there at night/dinner hours.

Of course, once we know how many people are going, we could always call ahead and see if they'll set a table aside.

Yeah, I was gonna do that, and probably show up a good half hour early just to make sure everything is in order. So if anyone wants a ride from me, just know we leaving early

Fujiyama sounds awesome! I've walked by it a few times, but I've never been inside. A Sunday for a late lunch or dinner is good for me too. It'll be really nice to meet people here in the Springs that go to NDK.

Around what day would everyone like to go? These next two weekends I won't be in town, but other than that, I'm fairly flexible.

I hope I can be in town when everyone wants to do this. Hope to meet you all there. ^_^

So then, in that case, would Dec. 12 be good? Hopefully thats far enough away from Christmas so as to not interfere with any plans.

This sounds good except for 2 problems... no money and it might be a bit far for me... I'll definitely try to come if I can start working.

Dec 12 sounds good for me too ^^ And before rides go being offered and such, I think it may be fair to warn you that I live in Monument-ish xD (Gleneagle). So if thats a problem I completely understand. But I'll be sure to keep my calendar open for the 12~! ^w^

LOL, I know how it is.... other than work and Saturday Evening D&D (when it aint canceled anyway), my "life" consists of what anime I wanna watch or what game I wanna play, with some exercise thrown in.

I started this thread, cause the vast majority of the meetups seem to be in Denver, which is a commute I usually am too lazy to take. So yes Inuyasha, I would suggest starting a thread to see if anyone on the forums lives near you and would be interested.

Hmmm.. in that case, whether or not I can give you a ride depends on whether or not I can arrange to be allowed to come in late to work the following Monday (I come in at 6:30 in the friggin morning....). I should be able to though, usually they don't get their panties in a knot as long as I am there by 9. Besides, still got a few weeks in case we get someone else with a car that lives a bit further north than me (I live on the southern end of 21st street, not exactly the northern part of town) that can offer a ride.

They closed during lunch on Sunday, so would have to be dinner. They open for dinner at 5 though, so it wont have to be TOO late.

My vote would go to just dress "normal", since it is a casual meet up~ Ã¢â„¢Â¥
(Though a cosplay outing in the future does sound awesome )

Yeah I was thinking just casual this time (though if you want to cosplay, no one will stop you!). Up on the agenda during this first meetup will be plans for future ones, definitely including cosplay, special events, sitting around just watching anime, whatever people want to do.

So anyway, can everyone who said they are going still make it? And Setton any idea how many of your friends will come? I trying to get a rough headcount for when I call the restaurant up next week to make sure they got the room.
