2010: The Year We Save Anime

Talking about what is wrong with the anime industry since 2009! This is the sequel to last year's "The Death of the Anime Industry" panel, but it is going to be slightly different in format. This year I am going to be talking more about what has happened in recent times rather than the general trends overall. I will then proceed to make predictions about the future and see how right or wrong I am.In many cases, I hope I am wrong! I will then open it up to open discussion for the remainder of the panel to help get people involved in spreading awareness of what is going on right in front of our noses and how we can save our beloved Japanese Animation!
This panel covers the past, present, and future of Anime and Manga both domestic and in Japan.

I look forward to seeing everyone there.

Thanks! It was a lot of work but I am happy with the turnout and the discussion at the end of the panel. I look forward to next year's NDK already!

Bring a tarp and I'll bring some tomatoes  ;) But really great panel not the doom and gloom but a good straight forward explanation of whats going on in the industry.

Yeah, realistic which sadly wasn't real positive but then, what is in anime these days?  I think I can see the understanding you came to Byron with the quality of anime still not really picking up.  Watching the Funimation preview show there wasn't much that really struck me as "I HAVE TO HAVE IT!" anime.  One or two looked amusing to maybe pick up or at least keep an eye out for when they go on sale, but yeah.  Shame really, I mean more and more I'm turning to older animes in my collection because there just isn't anything real spectacular out nowadays.  I mean the most recent for me that I love is Soul Eater, but that's really it.

Still anyway good panel, lets hope if you do another next year it's more uplifting you know.

Loved the panel. Do you have a link for the Yotsuba video?

I will put up my powerpoint and all of my notes for the panel sometime in the upcoming week, I just have a lot of press things to get out which is a plug for a different day!

I will make the writing as interesting as possible, I know that I talk kind of fast in front of groups but the writing should be nice and digestible.

I am going to use this thread for a storage of this declaration. I made a met with someone at the very end of my panel saying that If Funimation doesn't get bought off by next year's NDK, I will let him pie me in the face. On the flipside of that bet, if Funimation DOES get purchased or spun off into their own company, that I would get to pie him in the face. Well this news article pertains to that specific fact.

Better start getting that pie ready now!
