Resident Evil Fest: Saturday Night at NDK!
« on: September 03, 2010, 10:11:02 pm »
Do you love zombies? Do you love video games? Do you love ridiculous video games about zombies? Well, Saturday night, September 11th, NDK is the place to be! There's always a fantastic turnout of Resident Evil fans at NDK, and this year promises to be no exception!

Resident Evil Photoshoot

Begins at 10:00 PM near the Tower Elevators/in front of the old hotel restaurant. Join us for a photoshoot with NDK's talented RE cosplayers. This shoot turned out absolutely fantastic last year, and we'd love to have you join in the fun! All RE-related costumes are encouraged to join us, and general zombie cosplayers are welcome as well... as long as you don't mind taking a few potshots in photographs.

Conveniently scheduled one hour after the photoshoot...

Resident Evil: Complete Global... Oh, You know...
11:00 PM, Saturday Night, Bluebell Panel Room

The OFFICIAL Resident Evil panel for this year's NDK. Join your three lovely hosts (the forum's AndiPandi, RamyaKitty and myself) for an awesome (and hilarious) discussion panel about the Resident Evil series. DON'T MISS:
  • A roundtable discussion on such thrilling topics as "coolest characters," "upcoming games," "most awesome deaths," "scariest monsters," "worst lines," and "just what the heck is Wesker's deal, anyway,"
  • The first ever Resident Evil Trivia Challenge! Show off your worthless knowledge of a fictional zombie survival horror series and compete for one of several fabulous prizes. Your friends will be SO JEALOUS.
  • Fun, new friends, and lots of laughs

So grab your first aid spray and be sure you put those emblem pieces together correctly. Zombie fans won't want to miss it!

I hope the people in charge of this panel will actually show up this year.  Last year they didn't, but then a few others took control of the panel and it turned out to be really fun.  Sadly though, I'll be in Chris Patton's panel during that time.  Of course, had it been Friday night, I still wouldn't be able to go since I am hosting my own panel this year that night.  I cannot wait!!!

EDIT:  I just realized you said you would be one of the hosts, so I guess that means you will be there.

Actually, Dr. Kain, we are the people who took over the panel last year.  ;D We had a blast last year and decided to run the panel in a more official capacity this time. Sorry we won't see you there, but if your plans change or you have some extra time, feel free to stop by!

Oh, if that is the case, you might remember me as Boots.

However, my boots broke, so I won't have them this year.   :(

You guys should come to my Endings in Anime panel on Friday night though.

How did the panel go?  I never even had a chance to get into the room, which makes me mad.  Not to mention when I went to the photoshoot at 10 to take some pics, that stupid game thing was going on even for like 10 minutes.

Hey guys, I hope you all had a wonderful con!

First of all, I want to offer my sincerest apologies to everybody we had to turn away at the panel Saturday night. We didn't even remotely anticipate the type of turnout we got, and neither did the events staff! We were unfortunately in the smallest room and had to restrict attendance to the first 50 people in line in order to meet fire code-- this sadly meant that everybody at the photoshoot didn't get to come in!

I know a lot of people were looking forward to the panel and we felt absolutely terrible that things worked out as they did. Unfortunately, the situation was out of our hands and there was really nothing we could do. All the other panel rooms were full and there was no other time we could reschedule the panel. We were able to extend it until 3 AM (no, we didn't REALLY last that long) but by then many of you had already gone your separate ways/possibly to bed. We're sorry we had to disappoint so many people, but we hope you all had a great time at the photoshoot!

However, we're going to do our best to make sure this doesn't happen again-- we're working together with events staff to ensure that we get one of the larger panel rooms next year-- I'm talkin' Aspen or Conifer, the two biggest rooms aside from Main Events. In addition, we're going to make sure that the photoshoot and the panel are far apart on the schedule next year, perhaps even on different nights. We hope to celebrate everybody's favorite goony zombie games together next year, with up to 150 of our closest friends.

For those of you who did get to go to the panel, thank you very much for your patience and for supporting us! We'd like to know what you thought about the panel. Did you have fun? What did you like and what didn't you like? Did you enjoy the trivia? We want to know what you'd like to see in next year's panel. Please let me know in this thread.

On behalf of Andi (Claire), Kathrynne (Jill) and myself (Rebecca), thanks so much for your interest in the panel, and we hope to see you next year, in our big new space, at Resident Evil 2 1/2: Resident Eviler.

I was there! I was the Team Rocket member, two seats from the Joker in the back row, and I stayed thirty minutes past the original end-of-panel time. I have two negative comments and plenty of positive ones.

Not that you could help it, but the two guys in front of me were horrible and I'm pretty sure they annoyed every single person in the room. You know who they were. Other than that, it would be been better if the trivia prizes were better.

To counter the above, we're very happy to have the CD of songs to kill zombies to [I'm roommates with the Joker] and of all the panels I sat in, this was the most amusing. As long as one of the above-mentioned weren't talking, I was laughing. I had fun, I enjoyed the trivia questions and CD prize, and all of the discussion that was again, not coming from the mouth of that pair of... meatbags. [I hope Heels gets mauled by zombies]

So we could'nt make it in for the panel, that's okay. Getting to hang out with the Resident Evil group is my favorite part of NDK. See you all next year!

Thank you for an awesome Panel and Uber Successful Photo shoot/Panel I was amazed at the turn out. I cant wait for next year and hope I can help out in any way.

On a second Note I wanted to ask Does anyone have some photos from the shoot There were a ton of cameras going off and would love to see some pics

On a seperate Note
In addition, we're going to make sure that the photo shoot and the panel are far apart on the schedule next year, perhaps even on different nights. We hope to celebrate everybody's favorite goony zombie games together next year, with up to 150 of our closest friends.
I loved how the Panel was right after the Photo shoot, I do think that it was too close though, if we could have an hour break between the photo shoot and panel it would benefit you guys for setup and give the cos-players a breather break for water/snack/fresh air.

I was wondering if you could share the CD list of music with the Thread I would love to know what was on the CD and possible make the list myself  ;D

Awesome Job on the Panel and See you in 2011

The panel and the photoshoot being so close together was actually sort of an accident. We were the ones who scheduled the photoshoot here on the forums, setting it up for the same time as last year. When we arrived at the panelist meeting two weeks before con, we found out that our panel had been scheduled at the same time as the shoot! Greg was really great about helping us rearrange to our final timeslot of 11. Like I said, though, we didn't anticipate the turnout we would be getting for the panel! Our Jill's jaw just dropped when she saw the line.

Next year, in addition to the larger room, I will absolutely make sure that the two events are far enough apart that all of the fantastic RE cosplayers get the chance to get into the panel. Expect a several hour difference at least-- perhaps even an afternoon photoshoot.

And I'd be happy to share the contents of "Songs to Kill Zombies To." I tried to include a mix of "normal" songs along with my favorite tracks from Resident Evil games. Here is the tracklist:

  • Umbrella Chronicles (feat. The Stacey) by Insane Ian (fanwork RE song parody!)
  • Zombie Me by No More Kings
  • The First Mutation of "G" from RE2 (Darkside Chronicles arrangement)
  • Don't Stop Me Now by Queen
  • Zombie Nation by Kernkraft 400
  • Majini IX in Flames from RE5 (plays in chapter 6-3 in the ship hull)
  • Electric Worry by Clutch (popularly used in a trailer for Left 4 Dead 2)
  • Rust in Summer 2008 from RE5 (plays during one of the Mercs modes)
  • Thriller by Michael Jackson (of course)
  • Alexia's Lullaby from RE:CVX (Darkside Chronicles arrangement)
  • Highway to Hell by AC/DC
  • Sorrow from RE: Darkside Chronicles (Steve's boss fight music)
  • Back from the Dead by Spinal Tap
  • Wind of Madness from RE5 (Wesker's boss fight music-- FANTASTIC orchestral arrangement!)
  • Night of the Living Dead by BELT
  • GUILTY by Anna Tsuchiya (theme from RE: Degeneration)
  • Dead Man's Party by Oingo Boingo
  • Re Your Brains by Jonathan Coulton
  • SUPER SECRET BONUS TRACK

Like I said at the panel, my taste in music is pretty old school and I wanted to make a mix I would personally enjoy listening to. No screamo metal here, sir.
