Questions about CD's
« on: September 03, 2010, 06:36:50 am »
Is there a rule against handing out free demos at the convention? They'll be the clean versions of the songs and will be 100% free.

Thanks,
Rumor

We have rules against solicitation, and that would include handing out CDs.

If you've got a meetup of some kind during the convention, you can hand things out to people who show up to that (since they aren't just passing by). Alternatively, we have a freebie table where you can put the discs for anyone to take. But you wouldn't be able to promote your band verbally or hand CDs out to people walking by.

So I could give CDs to friends and to people who I may stop and talk to, as long as i'm not tossing them at everybody that looks at me?

I'm not trying to pry with what seem like silly questions, I just want to cover any and all bases.

You may not approach people for the purpose of giving them CDs. Nor may you attempt to attract attention for the purpose of giving away CDs. If someone is already talking to you or someone approaches you (without being prompted by you), then you can give them a CD without issue.

Alright, that makes sense. Thank you.
