Duraznita:
I am planning to enter the costume contest and would like to be judged for craftsmanship, but I have put some embellishments on my costume (extra jewels/little patterns, etc.) that are not on the characters original design. They follow the look and style of the character, but just add some more detail that is not present in the original outfit as seen in the manga/anime. The best way I can think of to describe it would be like how the terrible, awful, tragic "Last Airbender" movie took Aang's arrow tattoo, which was a solid blue in the cartoon, and made it detailed and patterned (the only neat thing about the movie! lol).
Would I lose points for adding these extra details since they are not necessarily a part of the original costume?
Thanks!

You shouldn't as long as you explain it was intentional and that you wanted to 'dress up' the costume of the character.

If I decide to try for a place in craftsmanship onsite (I know spots open are not guaranteed)  but I know you say to show up to register early if there are spots available.  Where will the location of this registration spot be and what time does it officially open?  So I know what time to show up early lol :D

Katie:
Checkin and Signup is in the photograph area which is right behind the convention registration area. We open at 6:30pm, for checkin and you can snag a spot for craftsmanship there (if there are some, it depends on the year). Last year we didn't fill all the spots this year who knows. There will be a line for each section of the contest (Beginner, Intermediate, Master, Cosplay, and Kids/New signups). Go to the line for the level you signed up for and checkin. Then get in the Master line (thats the person who will have the craftsmanship signup sheet) to ask for a craftsmanship judging time.

There is a form to fill out for craftsmanship judging and reference pictures (photos of the character and costume you are trying to make) are required. So be sure to bring those with you. I will have some forms onsite but not many. You'll take one fill it out and then go to kinkos and make two more copies to bring with you to your judging session so each of the judges can have one to read.

Thanks!  ;D
