Anyone else get "last-minute con panic" early?
« on: August 20, 2010, 03:11:49 pm »
I'm almost bouncing off the walls already. XD I'm making a list of what I need to bring, checking it twice, trying to figure out when I bum a ride to go downtown and get a new wig, when I should get new jeans, frantically trying to save up two hundred bucks and wishing the bills didn't get int he way, castigating myself for not taking my weight loss seriously, and attempting to plan how to get my friends together and get to the con on time.

The nerves and anticipation are about to nail me to the wall, and my cat now thinks I'm insane. (chuckles) But I've been getting con anticipation since the last one ended, so I'm getting used to it.

I'm not alone in this, right? Other people freak out early, right?

No you are very much not alone!

I usually dont get con panic~ but this time for me is different.  I am cosplaying a character that I have been wanting to for almost 2 years now~ an I am afraid I will forget something, or something might go wrong ;A;  Not only that~ there are several things that I still need that I should have taken care of already! *starts to Hyperventilate*

I am also bringing like 4 other cosplays~ and forgetting just one little thing is gonna send me into a panic!

ACK!!

Deep breaths now~ deep breaths o-o;;

Your not alone.

Iv also had con  anticipation since last year, but about Wednesday of this week it me hard. I’m also in panic mode. I don’t know why I get into panic mode, cosplaying isn’t big on my list , I may bring a simple cosplay that is already made. Im not hosting a panel, and I don’t have an AA table; so I don’t really have a good reason to panic.

Also in the same boat as you with the weight los, I pulled an Epic Fail on losing the ten pounds I wanted to lose, and I don’t know If I can lose those ten pounds, in the few weeks before con.

In the past I did. This year not so much. all I worry about this year is what I am going to do at the con and if I am still in anime mode or not(meaning if I can tell who cosplays as who and/or if I am falling behind on what people think is a great anime)
Wow! saying that makes me sound almost human!

The only concern I had was when I was trying to find the right piece of wood to carve a prop weapon. Something so simple as a piece of wood, and I just could'nt find one with the right dimensions. And the timetable I gave myself to do this was passing me by. Gave up on the whole thing, then found the perfect piece by accident. Scrambled to cut, file, sand, and paint. And now it's done with 3 weeks to spare. I can relax now.

I was making lists last week during an all staff meeting about what I needed to bring to con what my schedule was going to be, ect. I totally have it too.

I'm so panic'd I have no idea if my Honey Cosplay is going to be done because that'll change everything. I don't know if my metal keyblade will be peace-bonded for my Roxas cosplay. I have to meet my friend there and she's buying my badge. I'm freaking out because, I might not have a place to stay. I'm going crazy-inside- because I seem pretty relaxed but, I'm not. I'm scared that people are not gonna like my cosplay or think it sucks... e.o

I am so glad I'm not the only one!  Thank you for starting this thread!!! :)  I start school tomorrow, I start my first out of the house job in over a decade on the 1st, still have three cosplays I haven't started, need to finish the one I'm working on (no, they're not all for me), and just read I have like 18 days till the con.  Total Panic!!!

I do get last minute con panic attacks but not for the reason most people do. You see due to my medical condition I need to make sure I've brought enough of my medications so I can properly function at the convention. This includes not only my pills but in order for me to sleep safely (because I have sleep apnea) I need to bring a CPAP mask to pump air into my body when I sleep. I forget any of these things then I'm going to have problems by the end of the convention.

Forgetting things like my costume I never panic over. As usual I had packed it and all the facial/hair makeup I need for the convention already. Of course I do open up the suitcase every once and a while to confirm I haven't missed anything.

Yeah, definitely having a little last minute con panic myself(especially with the jacket I ordered for my Kyon cosplay)... trying to get my boss to pay me for the work I did 2 weeks ago so I can pay for my hotel room, save up some money for the dealer's room and food, just keeping in mind NDK is still gonna happen in two weeks, it's not gonna go anywhere, there's no meteorite that's gonna fall from space and hit the hotel and thus no NDK this year... and no more listening to musice from Mai-Hime for me... excuse me.

I really have no room to talk, being that I'm am a roiling ball of stress and panic myself ^__^, but I think we all need to remember why we are doing this.  It is supposed to be fun and enjoyable.  I'm going to try to remember that - and also to breathe.  Oxygen good.  :)

I have everything but the main actual clothes for my cosplay ready, and I can't sew. DDD; I think we found someone who will be able to do it for me but I'm still worried that maybe he'll do it wrong or end up not being able to or something... and I'm also worried that it will cost too much. BLARH.

But really even if it's not perfect as long as it gets done before the con I should be good. Making a cosplay (as a cosplay noob) while your whole family moves out of the country and you move halfway across it is a bit frustrating.
