Nan Desu Kan - Dance Dance Revolution Room 2010Hello, Chris Ketchum here to announce that "DDR Encore" and "Sasuke Studio 29" will be hosting the DDR room for NDK 2010. We're just excited as you are to be able to host this event.
Basic Overview - HostsDDR Encore is the leading Bemani organizer in the Rocky Mountain Region. Back in Septemeber 2009, Encore ran a national wide tournament right here in Colorado! The DDR Encore team consists some of the best Bemani players in this nation.
Sasuke Studio 29 is a company focusing on the digital art community. From creating pictures, videos, podcasts, music, electronic press, etc. We help those uprising stars practice and achieve what they want.
Basic Overview - Room Specifications1> One of the biggest complaints at any anime convention is that the DDR room was poorly set up. For us, we don't believe in a poor presentation. One of the major things you will notice in this room is that there will be an official DDR cabinet. No soft pads or home metal pads will be involved.
2> Worried about the small cabinet screen? No worries as we'll be having a projector show all the action so those in line or watching will be able to enjoy the show also. {Note: DDR players will be playing on the cabinet screen with no lag. The projector is just an secondary output for spectators.}
3> Put away your quarters everyone! This machine is freeplay! It's not as fun if you have to pay to play!
4> This will be a singles only event. Doubles mode will be disabled on the machine. Each pair of players are allowed 2 songs and that's it. After your set of songs are complete, you are welcome to go to the back of the line.
5> DDR Encore is well aware of the tournament scene. You think you got what it takes to be top ranker in NDK? We'll be holding a Standard and Heavy Division tournament on Saturday to see who really is the top ranker. You never know...you just may earn an opportunity to play against one of our staff members.
Basic Rules1>
No Cutting The Line - Due to the sheer amount of attendants at this convention, a coin or card line will be useless in this environment. Instead, there will be a physical line for those who want to play. {Just like at an amusement park sort of} We ask that you don't cut the line nor hold a spot for 20 of your friends.
2>
No Large Objects While Playing - We understand you're cosplaying. We have no problems with it but we ask that while on the stage that you take off the huge whatever. We don't want your awesome dancing skills to transfer to a prop stabbing an attendie.
3>
Wear Proper Footwear - Please understand that these pads are arcade metal pads. Playing barefoot can cause cuts. We won't be responsible for any injuries.
4>
No Obsessive Screaming/Yelling - If you want to sing along, no problem. If you want to cheer for some professional player, no problem. Screaming "I lost the game!" 20 times during one song, not ok. Just be respective towards others.
5>
No Elitist Downing - Everyone is here to have fun. Just because someone isn't as good doesn't mean you can yell at them, call them names, tell them they suck, etc. Just remember you were a noob too!
6>
NO FOOD OR DRINKS ON THE MACHINE - Sorry for the caps but one ramune spill can ruin the DDR room for the whole con. It sucks and it's not fair for everyone else. We don't mind food and drinks but we ask on your turn to play, put your belongings behind the pads on the floor. We can't afford to replace the machine.
7>
All NDK Rule Still Apply - This is Nan Desu Kan's convention. Not ours. Please follow all their guidelines and rules also.
8> If you have any problems, feel free to talk to a NDK staff or a DDR Room staff. We'll gladly try to help the best we can. {Please note DDR Room staff don't have the same power as NDK staff.}
9> There will be more rules listed not including common sence. Though if we find an attendie causing trouble in our room, we'll gladly get NDK security to escort you out. {We doubt this will happen. Anime peoples are nice^^}
NDK 2010 Tournament Rules Tournament Flow1> This will be a 16x Single Elimination Tournament. In other words, 16 contestants will be going head-to-head single elimination style until one player is left standing. There will be two divisions/tournaments for standard/heavy players. Sandbagging is strictly forbidden.
2> To determine bracket locations, contestants will be playing a qualifier song. If 16+ contestants register for the tournament, the bottom scores will be eliminated until 16 remain. You will be given 1 chance so make it count.
3> Once brackets have been determined, 2 contestants at a time will be competing against each other. It will be a best 2/3 tournament. Each contestant will be allowed to pick one song and in case of a needed tiebreaker, random will be selected.
4> Scoring Per Song - We will not be using the DDR score but we will be using the following algorithm below.
Perfect 2pts.
Great 1pts.
Good 0pts.
Almost 0pts.
Miss 0pts.
O.K. 2pts.
Other Rules1> Standard Division Tournament will be playing all songs on standard. Heavy Division Tournament will be playing all songs on heavy. For the Heavy Tournament, if a song has a challenge chart, the contestant who chose the song has the right to change it to challenge.
2> In a case where the contestants are in a argument on which pad a contestant is on, the lowest seed player will be allowed to choose which side. Also, if there is an argument on who chooses the first song, the lower seed contestant can decide who picks first.
3> Once a contestant picks a song, no contestant is not allowed to pick that song again in their division. {Unless the song is picked on random.} So be strategic. Use your best songs when you need it.
4> Any modifer that changes or reduces the notechart is forbidden. cBPM mods are also banned. x1,x2,x3etc. are allowed.
5> Bar Hugging/Raping is allowed.
6> In the event of a tie, random will be chosen. The players must play the chosen song unless the song doesn't fit the criteria of the tournament. Example: a song with only challenge steps cannot be played in the Standard tournament.
