When Naruto learned how the Sealing went down,
and heard what his parents always wanted him to hear, he was able to say "Before the Kyuubi was in me, there was love."
I get teary just thinking about it. Also when Hinata
took on an opponent so much stronger than she was and almost bit it, but not before she told Naruto how she feels.
Just about every Miyazaki film I've seen gets me. Like when
Nausicaa is resurrected by the Om
, or when Chihiro almost
looks back at the other land, only to catch herself and resolutely keep going
. Sophie practically tackling Howl in sheer glee is fun too.
There's a moment in "Sol Bianca" -the original movie- where three of five space pirates and the kid they're supposed to be helping are in a prison, waiting to be executed in the morning, and the kid feels as though it's his fault they're all in trouble. One of the pirates, April, cheers him up by telling him "Listen to me, Rim: If you believe, truly believe, in the dreams that you hold in your heart of hears, and trust your eyes to see clearly and without bias, then the charting of your course will be swift and true. Can you believe?"
Rim nods and says "I believe." I'm getting teary thinking of that, too.
I think the moment that gets me the most is a scene from "Millennium Of The Witch", which was briefly sold in the US as "Locke The Superman" (the guy in my icon). Locke's on a huge ship, confronting the villainess' right-hand woman, Cornelia. Their brawl ends with Locke getting thrown against a wall, and Cornelia corners him, demanding to know what had happened to one of her agents, who voluntarily shut off her own mind. The conversation is as follows:
Cornelia: (angered, pointing a sword at Locke's chin) Don't move! If you're clever, tell me why Jessica analyzed [and neutralized] herself.
Locke: To save Director Yamaki [from herself]. It was the only way.
Cornelia: (shocked) Yamaki? He's just another human, isn't he?
Locke: (furious) Jessica was human too! So are you! She wasn't a tool; you're not a tool! Why not try to live like a human being?!
Cornelia: (falters, thinking of a white dress she had to discard in favor of her armor)
Locke: Why did you stop living like a human being? Cornelia-
Cornelia: Shut up. SHUT UP! (drives her sword down; Locke teleports away. Cornelia falls to her knees, shaken)
That's a very powerful moment for me, where emotions and secret thoughts are being struck at painfully. In the end, Cornelia takes back her femininity, but at the cost of being mindwiped for her crimes. She doesn't recognize Locke when he approaches her again, consigning him back to his solitary life. Oh, lordy, that one is heartbreaking.
