While a tea party sounds like a fabulous idea, I wonder if this should get approved by the staff first? (Unless it's already received a seal of approval, in which case, forgive my intrusion!)
The convention has a contract with the hotel, and oftentimes there are very strict stipulations about providing food and beverage. In previous years, I know that the convention has had to shut down events that were distributing food and beverage because it clearly states in their contract that only the -hotel- may provide such things. I'm sure the convention doesn't want a breach of contract (what a mess!), so like I said, I'd recommend getting a stamp of approval for this.
