Meetup disscussion for Halloween Town and School Kingdom Hearts group

                                    Everyone must read before posting!!!!

This is the new place to discuss everything related to the Halloween Town and School Girl/Boy group.  Sadly we have had a few hiccups with the mods in the past so, here are a few guidlines to keep us ON TOPIC!

Guidlines

1. This is only for disscussing the two meetups AT NDK and who is cosplaying as who.  If you want to disscuss the costumes please go here and follow the guidlines in place. http://ndkdenver.org/forum/index.php/topic,4734.0.html
If you want to discuss the possibility of a pre-con meetup/costume test please create a seperate thread.

2. You may discuss what character you are cosplaying and I will track it on a master list for us.

3. You are allowed to change your character/costume, just keep it ON TOPIC.  In other words, if I wanted to change from Kairi to Namine I would post my decission to change, which character I was changing to and or costume and nothing more.  If you want advice on which character it may be wise to start a new thread just to keep the discussion from wandering too much.

4. Date/Time/Place CAN be discussed here.  When we come up with a concrete decision on the two meetups, I will inform the appropriate people and if need be create a new thread to keep track of members.

This would also be a place to discuss deciding on what character to cosplay for our group.  We can use the handy p.m. system to get everyone in the chatroom at the same time if we need.  

Also feel free to p.m. me with any questions you have, especially if you aren't sure your comment is on topic. I can usually respond within 24hrs and I would rather you double check and have everything be o.k. then get yourself in trouble.    This place should be fun and I with a little common sense and caution I think it can be.

I think it would be a good idea, but we may want to start a seperate thread for it. Anyone who's interested,  P.M. me and I'll look into it.

In the meantime we were in the processes of discussing the school group so, we could start this off with that and figure out if it's still a go and what day/time would work best for everyone.

Updated the school list as per our disscussion in the other thread.  Lightane is now Zexion and Axis is now Leon/Squall (whatever you want to call him).    I think I have suddenly become the only girl cosplaying a girl in this group. Under normal curcumstances I could have fun with this, too bad Yaoi runs rampent here.

Sorry for the double post mods, but I decided to get some stuff ironed out.

School Photoshoot

Since this looks like possibly the most difficult one to figure out I figured I would start here.  I think Friday is the best bet for this. That being said there are a few bumps we need to steer around.  For starters the costume contest check in.  I know at least three of us are in it and  I am not sure if everyone is new to how it all works so, I'll asume you are and you can smack me later. j/k.  The check in is from 6:30-8 pm.  Most people start lining up for this around 4:30-5. Since craftmanship judging is mostly online this year(unless all spots are not filled then it will be first come first serve at con) it may not be as early.  You can also asume to stand in line for aprox. 30 mins. to an hour.  I also am putting stuff in the art show at 1pm.  If everything runs smoothly I should be out before 2pm. I can also asume most people will not be out of school and at the con much before 4 or 5pm.  So we have a couple of options for that. The first option is an outdoor shoot possibly the fountain as soon as everyone gets settled maybe around six, then since everything is online for the contest, those who are in it run back and check in.  There is check in for a little bit Sat. morning at like 9am-10am, so if you are an early riser this could work.  The second option would be around 7-8pm  somewhere around the hotel since it will be dark by then and if it is still light we could also try the fountain. We just need to make sure we stick in a group should it get dark before we get back, for safety reasons. (There are heartless and other unsavory characters waiting for us  )  We could do either out front by the Vallet area or there is an outdoor patio by the bar if it is too dark to go that far.  Let me know what you guys think. For the life of me I can't remember if it was still light around 7or8 last year. If anyone remembers let me know. We can meet at Starbucks before going to a different place. Everyone should know who has and hasn't arived so we can go when everyone gets there.


Halloween Town photoshoot

The general concensous seems to be after the contest on Sat.  This being said there are several people participating in this who are in the costume contest. To prevent panic and such I sugest we gather in front of the revolving doors well out of the way of major trafic.  We are sure to draw photogs to us since I believe this group is a first at our con.  To ensure NO ONE gets left behind we need a couple of people, preferably those not in the costume contest, to keep a running count of who is and is not there.  We should have a complete list of the entire group by con and it may be a good idea for the people to have a list so we know when everyone is here.  When everyone arives (providing we may need to stay put a couple of minutes for pics) we can decide, baised on the moonlight where we want to go for the offical shoot.  For safety reasons I suggest we stick close to the hotel.  If there is enough room, the grassy island by the vallet area may work.  If the light outside is good we could entertain going to the grassy hill next door.  I also suggest it may be wise to bring some extra light just in case. This can be in the form of spooky lanterns, battery operated candles, etc.  I'm not trying to put a damper on things just making sure the con doesn't have to make a rule about it for future years. Plus it's not wise to tempt fate even if we are in a relativly safe area, especialy since we may be doing this anywhere from 10pm-12am.

These are just suggestions and I hope to get some good discussion going.  The last thing I want is for this to be a last minute scramble.

Halloween Town times sound fine for me. I can see if i can find some form for light as well. And from past photoshoots, making a light go straight up and standing right above it make some really cool shadow effects, and can turn out pretty creepy ((:
Only problem with me is getting in and out the door lmao. The wings are about 7 feet long, more or less, so I really need to wear them JUST outside probably. Going inside and out wont be good in my case ><
Does anyone live in Denver close to that area? I know Roxas does. Maybe we could have someone check out the area and see if theres some good places for either photoshoot.
Early Saturday sounds great to me for the photoshoot, mornings are always the easiest for me. It just depends on the others.

Ouch after contest? Idk if I'll be wanting to change into HT Namine then or not, I was going to b her most of the day, then change into my cosplay contest outfit afterwards and stay that way the rest of Saturday. Hmmm well spots for skits are pretty limited anyway, so I guess if I don't make it into the contest after could work, but I'm not too sure. I would ask if it could be moved to 12:30 again, but I know that interferes with Kuroshitsuji..... hmmm I'll see if I can do it, I know Lux is still gonna go though, he's not entering the contest, I don't think. I'll do my best!!!

Yeah, the reason we decided this before was 'cause we wanted a moonlit photoshoot.  I'm gonna hafta change from Rikku, with about ten diff. peices to my Kairi which includes changing my nail polish, and makeup, but it'll be worth it.  Besides it's too hard to change the other way for an earlier shoot considering if I don't get every bit of black makeup off my eyes Rikku will look like she rolled out of bed with dark circles under her eyes, LOL.  Sadly I think this is the only way I can do it.

im going to be in HT Riku all day-ish, and since im going to be watching the costume contest rather than entering it ect... i can be of service as far as making sure no one gets left behind..this is again true for the school shoot.. since I will be at the hotel by noon at the latest i can also be of assistance.. especially since the patches are with me so u guys have to find me anyway.. also for those people who are lining up for costume contest/masquerade check ins ect.. if you guys can coordinate maybe when you guys check in.. it might make thing easier.. also if we have to do HT during the day.. I cant complain cuz we may wanna do that anyway.. cuz unless we can plan it right at dusk... it may not be doable.. also considering we have younger peoples the parentals may not like that we are out that late :/ oh and sakura.. Vaseline/petroleum jelly works wonders in terms of getting thick stubborn makeup off..

All good points Rae, this is why I did not want to go off campus so to speak.  I was thinking the grasy area right by the Vallet area or right outside the doors by registration would be perfect. There is plenty of light and we are not very far from the building should an issue accur. If we have to do it inside, the area behind registration has been designated as a photoshoot area. There would be a back drop that I'm sure some of us could get clever enough to replace in some of the photos for a more Halloween Townish look. There is also the large space by the resturant which has glass doors that would give us a dark/moonlit backdrop as well.  As for the makeup, thanks for the tip. I still have the problem of craftmanship judging on sat. I don't know when it will be during the day and I may not know untill real close to the con if I get a slot. I'm using my real hair for the character so having to take off a wig, pull up and tease/spray and pin my hair, do the judging, take it all down to put on the wig again, then take off the wig and do it all over for the contest could be a logistical nightmare.  Not to mention how many times I have to change my nail polish from yellow to red and back again.  I don't know what else to say, but this is usually why I stick to three costumes per con.  

Tell ya what, I live 15 mins from the hotel.  I'll try, in the next couple of weeks to get out there after dark and scout out a couple of locations around the perimiter of the hotel.  I'll even take some pics and maybe this will help a little.  I really want to make this work for everyone. If some of the younger ones have worried parents I have no problem with them tagging along and making sure everything is on the up and up and as one of the older members of this group I will take full responsibility for those who participate. The last thing I want is for someone to feel left out or for this to fall apart because everyone has been working so hard on their costumes.

Don't think I'll be doing the costume contest this year, so it's not an issue for me. I could always help and scout out as well if you need extra help. Before the con, it might be a good idea to get everyones cell number just in case instead of running around trying to find someone if they lost track of time.
Not sure what time Ill be there Friday, either right when it starts, or around 5:00ish. I'm allowed to skip school that day with my bro to get here early, but my friends that were taking might not be able to and were supposed to carpool

I'm staying over Thursday so, I'll already be at the hotel Fri. so, whenever we need to meetup we can.  Locations for the School shoot I think will work great is either the hill which seperates the hotel from the building next door. If anyone was at the Kingdom Hearts/Final Fantasy photoshoot last year you know the hill we had to hike over to get to the parking lot next door.  I can try and get a pic during the day if need be. I think this would give us a nice outdoor feel if we want. The other choice like I said is the fountain. This could also look nice like an extension of a school campus.  I'll let you guys decide. 

For the Halloween Town shoot, I was able to run over to the hotel last night and scope the place out.  I have at least three different location which are well lit for an outdoor shoot. If need be we can also stay inside.Like I said either the place over by the resturant or behind the registration would work. I have at least one spookie looking backdrop I could bring to set the mood for an indoor shoot if need be.  I also discovered the costume contest has been moved up an hour to 6pm instead of 7pm. This means the contest may end more like 9pm instead of 10pm so, no one has to worry about being outdoors too late. I am going to post the acctual pics so you can compare them side by side. Please forgive the bad lighting and such, I used my camera phone.  Mods, this is the ONLY post which will be done like this and it will be a little image heavy. Please understand. 

First choice: The hill by the front of the hotel/Valet parking area.  There is plenty of space for 20 people(not that we have that many but it gives you an idea)

Second choice: The median outside in the Valet parking by the outdoor patio behind the bar.



Third choice: Outside by the restuarant. The lighting isn't all that good, but we could make it work.

Think it over and we can post a poll if need be.  I'm very felxible with the school shoot so, it's just a matter on when everyone can get there and if we want daylight.

I agree the first one is the ideal location.  It looks like someone has booked the area by the resturant for a Resident Evil photoshoot Sat. night so, we could do behind the registration as a backup in case of weather or whatever.  I'll give this a week to marinate and if I don't hear too many complaints I'll go ahead and post it on the meetups thread so we don't loose our spot to someone else. I can always change it if I need to.  I think the school one is flexible enough we can wait a little longer to put a definite time and place on it. 

So, to make sure people know what the tenitive meetup is I'll post it again.
