Yeah, I know. I just remember being able to work out like crazy every day and having little or no side effects. Getting older FTL.
Planned cosplays for 2012:
Big Boss (Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater), Black Waltz 3 (Final Fantasy IX), Nappa (Dragonball Z), The Stig's Spartan cousin (Halo/Top Gear mashup)

Reporting in to say I should not need a ladder to climb a tree. ^>_<^;;

That makes me happy inside! I would have cried for you if you couldn't. ^^;

I would have cried for you if your had to use a ladder to climb a tree. That would be very depressing....

It shouldnt always be about the numbers either. I don't even have a scale in my house. I judge mostly by the mirror.

I do have to tone up for this year, and so far given some health troubles it hasn't been going too well.
I think we should hold ourselves accountable in trying to reach our goals.  It will be difficult but we can do it!

Go ahead and cry, Mitsu. The trees around here are either too small or too spindly to climb, or have had lower limbs cut off 'cause of potential fire hazard. I really do need a ladder to climb a tree. (nodnod)

This is starting to become a bit chatty, if you would like to discuss climbing trees further please take it to PM.

I'm trying to lose some weight myself, I don't feel bad but I'm over my comfortable pant size. I'm 6' and 285# myself. My biggest problem is working in a kitchen, so I find myself having to taste everything, it's part of the job. Also I'm a chocoholic, cutting that out would probably help me tremendously, in more ways then just weight loss.

Well, I'm gonna stop being in the closet about this.

www.fitday.com <~~ I linked this earlier. I am totally loving this site. As long as you don't mind the data entry, it's really fascinating. I've logged a few days and I'm hooked.

It keeps info on food intake, calories, activities, vitamin requirements, your mood, a journal, your goals, etc, etc... If you're a visual person, it keeps this data on graphs and charts so you can see your progress over time.

On a personal side of things, I can totally relate to most of you. I'm 21, 5' 9" and I swear I'm the same weight I've been since I was 13... a number which I'm slightly embarrassed to say. >,>
After so many years it's just really time for a change and I'm incredibly optimistic. ^_^

And since I have at least two of you on facebook, I think the daily support for each other will do tremendous good. ;D

Tree-climbing does work a lotta muscles and your balance, though. ^n_n^ Okay, that's enough on that outta me.

Speaking of climbing, does anyone here rock-climb? Would you say it's a beneficial workout?

Anyway, I'll look in on FitDay, Lunara. Thanks for mentioning it.

I decided to take today off from exercise. When I woke up EVERYTHING hurt. I'm still chugging water like crazy and leaving my stool to the side. No sitting for me!

I figure I'm going to do my weight and waist measurement every tuesday

Really I just need to cut down on the amount of chocolate I eat, I'm a big stress eater. Maybe I should look into getting back into Tae Kwan Do, I know when I was practicing I ate a lot less chocolate, and actually lost weight. There's a few schools near the house, but several of them are chains, I've always been a little wary of those.  Though there is a school not far from here that at least used to be owned by one of the partners of my old instructor.

I'm a stress/bored eater. I find that substituting chocolate and other junk food for peanuts. Really! Those are the most amazing snack foods ever! You can eat to your hearts content and not only gain protein, but not get fat! Also the ham/cheese/cracker lunchables are great if you want something a little bit more substantial.

@RoninEclipse2G: It's probably best that you take a break. I'm too lazy to find who said it, but if you take a break your muscles have a chance to heal and thus grown stronger. Plus, you can go longer than ever before after the break. ^^

i am really picky about tdk and my favorite schools are ATA but to be honest it takes demo-ing in a bunch to figure out where you like it.. my school that i grew up in is really strict and i like that since then the only one i found that i like was an ATA school.. but that was still in fl try looking into ATA

also..cutting back on chocolate is good.. however the darker it is the healthier it is for you.. if that is a suitable substitute

anyone know any good toning exercises for my arms.. ive never had to think about those before but since im crossplaying i need to bulk and tone them a bit besides the pushups which are just for the sake of getting stronger

Pushups are great for arm and chest toning. You could try roman pushups, they're awesome for toning the triceps. Sit on the ground in front of a chair with your legs out straight facing away from the chair. Put your hands on the chair and lift your body up using only your arms.

standing on your hands. in gymnastics, they have you stand on your hands, and do shoulder dips/shrugs. they are a KILLER! they work every muscle in your arms, from your shoulders to your wrists at the same time. don't try to do more than 10 when you first start out, cos you're lifting your entire body weight on your hands. also, if you can't balance on your hands, do it against a wall.

this is also awsum for core training, cos you have to keep your core stable at all times, or you will fall down, even if doing them against a wall.
