okay So I moved to 120th and Colorado Blvd. I still work at 52nd and Wads... Luckly there is bike trails that I take. I ride 18 miles to work and 18miles back home from work. Other then the bugs(mostly at night) very nice bike ride and I beat when the bus will get me there...

It's similar for me but a shorter ride. It's about exactly 10 miles to work in Boulder from my home in Lafayette and a little faster to bike than take the bus even though I work just a block from the main RTD bus station and live a few blocks from a stop near my house. However, there's a pretty large hill along the way so it's impossible to get there without getting sweaty. Fortunately there's a shower at the building I work at so it's not a big deal.

Considering it follows the creeks and rivers it uphill to work but a gradual  climb and downhill on the way home... worst going to work because of the uphill then coming home... but I do have to attend to the fact that at 88th and Colorado it hill if I take the street.

Ugh, I've been slacking and almost everything I lost found it's way back. I'm just so freaking tired lately. I really don't know what to do at this point

try to mix it up. yoga's always a nice change.

one thing i try to keep in mind is that it doesn't matter what i do, so long as i do _something_, even if it's just to go stretch out for a bit.

WOOTTTTTTTT at roxaslover!!!

HEY GUYS!!!! IM BACK!!!

sorry for the abscence.. its been a crazy week at CU boulder as all of us old farts moved in the freshmen and got them happily settled in and ready to start classes  v.v.. and on top of all that.. JUNK FOOD.. ugh Ronin I hear ya.. i put on a crap load of visible weight in a WEEK a flippin week.. and ive gained back much of what I lost.. but we cant let this beat us n.n today i did a series of crunches and push ups, and then tomorrow afternoon I have a date with the rec center for a jaunt on the elliptical and then the weight room. My roomate is awesome and we are working out our schedules so we can work out a few times a week together. I am also going to take advantage of the classes they have at the rec center to take.. maybe spinning? or something like that. Ialso started again today about watching what I eat.. its a work in progress.. since i still have a chocolate parfait in the fridge but i need to wean myself off of alll this sugar that ive consumed this past week.

the trick to this stuff really is creating a routine and diet that you can stick to. Not an easy task... Lets both get back on track n.n!

also.. i added optional octopus to that spicy cucumber salade that ive been talking about.. and man was it good! better than some of the stuff ive been eating this past week XD

Well All I know is I gain the weight that I wasn't trying to lose back... But I still be mostly working my legs with riding my bike... Need to get working on my upper body more and ABs... Also I been drinking too much pop again... I need to start making my teas again. Lastly I need to let my body rest... otherwise I feel I will end up in the hospital with heart giving me problems again... thats why I'm relaxing these two days off work..

I'm officially at 253; I drink a 2 liter of water every day, a bowl of cereal(honey bunches of oats, which has helped IMMMENSELY), and a chimichanga with a side of chicken nuggets. I also have a thing of yogurt every day, which I think is helping too.

What I been noticing about your guys diets... you are pretty much starving your bodies causing them to eat the fat cells... now when you just hop right off the diets it will true everything back into fat to replenish the fat cell reserves and then sum... Best thing to do is whine your self off the diets other wise you will regain it back and very quickly too

nogardous: i have a theory about that. i think that ppl that lose weight too fast, say more than 1-2 lbs a month, once the diet/exercise regiment is over, the body freaks out, and gains back all the weight, plus more.

think about how much exercise and calorie restriction it takes to burn enough fat, while building muscle, to lose 1 lb. it's kinda shocking when the numbers are actually crunched. you really can't keep up that kind of exercise and calorie restriction to maintain that sort of weight, especially as you age.

so, modify your diet into something livable. instead of "diet", think about how to eat more healthily. the same with an exercise regiment. you really shouldn't be losing more than 1-2lbs PER MONTH, not per week. that way, the weight will stay off, and you'll not yo-yo.

Rini is right. But overall you have to remember this: a diet can't be a temporary thing, its a lifestyle change. If you stick to it in a healthy way for the rest of your life, you should turn out all right. And CNN just had an article up yesterday about the secret to losing weight: WATER. Drink a glass of water before your meal, this kills your appetite just enough that you won't over eat when you sit down for your meal, and water helps flush the body of all that artificial crap we all eat these days. What a concept huh?

Nonsense. Your body doesn't digest food any differently if you drink some water before eating.

no, but it does give you a feeling of fullness, so you don't eat quite so much, which i think is the main point.

as for the idea of "flush[ing]...all that artificial crap" isn't off-base. the whole "toxins" thing is complete BS. as a doctor friend of mine said, you wanna "cleanse" your body, drink plenty of water. you kidneys will "flush" out the toxins plenty fine without having to do anything special.

Certainly. You'll note I didn't argue with that point. It's spot-on.

Indeed, passing more water through your kidneys usually helps them do their thing... up to a point. Eventually one reaches a point of diminishing returns where drinking more water doesn't provide much benefit. And if you drink too much water, it'll have a negative effect. The key, like with everything else, is balance.

@nog... my "diet" isnt really a diet.. its an attempt at making a lifestyle change and eating more healthy foods.. the problem with me gaining my weight back was because instead of limiting my portions like I did all summer, and making healthy food.. I have been thrust back into a world full of junk food and institutionally prepared food that is cheap and greasy.. top that off with being extremely busy at sit down meetings and classes starting.. I haven't been able to go to the gym...nor do I have a place to keep my bike at this point in time. Poor diet plus lack of exercise equals muscle loss and an excess amount of unburned calories due to inactivity and less calories needed all this creates the unwanted weight gain. but ive been eating a bit better the last few days by getting my main meal at the salad bar and getting sides of the greasy yummy things and less of them.. Ive also taken to using the smaller plates >.< Im also demoing a bunch of things that the rec center on campus offers

Yes I agree with 100 percent of the water thing. Its good advice on both helping flush and making you fuller.. but what ive also noticed is that portions are still necessary.. because even water causes your stomach to stretch.. and thats not good.. matter of fact.. thats how a majority of the eating contest winner keep their appetite and stomach stretched to its fullest..water.. just something to keep in mind.. extremes are never the good way to go in terms of diet and exercise

I'm at 252 right now... my current meal is not what you'd consider a diet, it's just me following the amount of calories I'm supposed to digest(right word?) in a single 24 hour day(bowl of cereal for breakfast or dinner with yogurt, plenty of water through the day, and a chimichanga(either chicken or beef) with 5 chicken nuggets). The good part about those meals is it satisfies my cravings, and I can have a couple cookies without worrying about adding extra pounds on.

Well, I checked my scale, and I'm officially at 249... it's either 249 or 248... I'm still happy though.
