OK, time for a new game. I've played this before and it's really entertaining. This game tests your movie knowledge as well as your visual memory. And it's both a lot easier and harder than it sounds.
The RulesThe goal of the game is to rack up as many points as possible by correctly guessing what movie a screencap comes from, or by stumping everyone else by posting a screencap they can't guess.
Discussion is OK so long as it's relevant to the game.
Posting Images- Anyone may post screencaps at any time, up to three unguessed screencaps at a time per person.
- If you do post screencaps, be sure to check back regularly to award (or claim) your points! When the point has already been awarded for a movie, add a
strikethrough to its label and add the movie title to let people know it's already been guessed. - If 48 hours have elapsed without a guess on one of your screencaps, you may repost the screencap (be sure to mark it as a repost and maintain the same screencap number as before). If a further 24 hours elapse without a guess, you may claim a point for the movie. (Treat each time period as a counter. The counter is reset each time someone guesses on your screencap.)
- Number your screencaps sequentially starting with 1 or 01.
- Don't put the movie title in the filename (e.g. the-empire-strikes-back.jpg).
- Movies that have had domestic releases only. No TV shows. Animation is allowed, but anime is not. (We can start an anime-specific game if there's interest.)
- All screencaps must be from commercially-available movies. This means the movie must have been released in theaters (limited release is OK, as long as it played in at least two cities) and it must be commonly available for purchase.
- All screencaps must come from scenes that were in the original theatrical release. Don't post screencaps from deleted scenes, extended scenes, and other special edition scenes.
- It must be a screencap. Promotional and other movie-related images are not allowed.
- Screencaps should be no more than 720 pixels wide and have the proper aspect ratio.
- No hotlinking without permission. You must host the images yourself or use an image hosting provider that allows hotlinking. (I recommend ImageShack.)
GuessingOne guess per person per screencap. Make those guesses count!
Scoring- Each screencap is worth one point.
- The first person to guess the screencap correctly receives the point.
- The person who posts a screencap earns one point after 10 incorrect guesses or 24 hours after the last guess following a repost, whichever comes first. (At which point they should reveal the name of the movie.)
And, of course, it goes without saying... no cheating. Be sure to keep your friends in the dark, too!
