The Ronin's beads, wearable art and more
« on: March 19, 2010, 11:53:43 pm »
Hey all, I thought I would share some of my artwork with you guys. A lot of what I do is based on video game sprite art and nostalgic iconography. I work with many mediums including fuse beads, paint on canvas, silkscreen and airbrush.

First up, fuse beads. Many of these are made into magnets and coasters. I have a few larger pieces that I'm working on that hopefully will make it into the art show this year. (click on the thumbnail to get the full size pic)

Next is my wearable art. Silkscreen and airbrush on fabric.

And now some of my drawing and painting. Various mediums

Edit: I am available for comission work, prices are negotiable depending on complexity of the project. I would love to do some silkscreening for cosplay pieces

Additional information added to the first post.

I am available for comission work. I would love to do some silkscreening for cosplay costumes

I also wanted to show off the latest piece that I've done just in case people were too lazy to click the thumbnails ;D

It's a mobile for my son's crib. This thing is HUGE! Thank God I've got 10ft ceilings in my condo

Awesome stuff Ronin; I love the pixle bead art you make, in old school Nintedo and FF characters; and you have mad skillz for drawing cars. That’s a cute little onesie you made for your son; and that has to be the best baby crib mobile I have ever seen.

Thought I'd share my latest piece. Ryu Hayabusa from the Ninja Gaiden Trilogy on SNES

I wanted to have the anime like effect of speed lines so I used colored pencil on black art board

Super cool stuff! I like that it's unique, beautiful, and utilitarian! Your sketches are also really nice, as are the shirts--if I ever think of something I need or want silkscreened, I'll be sure to shoot you a message.

I like the speed lines on the latest, but my favorite is that mobile. He must be a very happy child. ;D

Thank you! I'm actually working on my most ambitious silkscreening project to date. I'm really nervous that the stencil won't work because it's CRAZY detailed

Sounds intense. I don't know much about silkscreening, except that it's very intense and unforgiving. You'll have to post whatever happens here. I hope it turns out great!

Woah, that's epic, dude. Must have taken forever. Well worth the effort though! I'm glad it turned out so well. :)

I just found out that an aquaintance of mine has a professional screen printing machine, and he's giving me access to it for FREE! My time and cost for making shirts and stuff just went WAY down!

Could I get a price range for a commission? I may be interested in a silkscreen.

It'll depend on the size and complexity, what are you looking for?

A hoodie, with a jrock band name on it, that I can't find ANY merch for here.

Size wouldnt be that huge, and the logo is just some words in a Old english style font.

Email me the band logo, I'll need to see the detail. I'll have to check hoodie prices since they're out of season, unless you can provide your own.

were you using stencils or photo emulsion for your silk screening? cos, you can get incredible detail from photo emulsion, provided you use a high enough fabric mesh and good inks.

I've been using stencils, but will be switching to photo emulsion soon.
