Please help! This will be my first con...
« on: March 01, 2010, 12:19:58 am »
I posted this in another section, but did not get any help.

I will be attending NDK this year, and I'm needing some advice on how to go about part of my costume.

My costume includes a large drill prop attached to the arm, which will be not be made out of any metal, (actually, it is constructed of duct tape and plastics.) However, it looks pretty made out of metal due to paint.

But this isn't the kicker.

This will be able to spin, like an actual drill by means of either a motor inside, or placing an actual hand-held drill inside that will "motorize" the prop.

Is this a no-no or is it possible to be peace bonded?

Actually, "Iron man" uses motors in his cosplays, And last year I saw a lot of people with drills on their cosplays, So If you absolutely must, you should be able to peace bond it, But I am not even sure if that would be needed, If the drill is on the inside that is...

I don't think it should be a problem. You'll want to stop by Ops because they may want to peace-bond the drill (which is really just a way to show that we've talked to you about our prop policies), but I don't think it really raises any major safety concerns so long as you're not wielding a drill with an exposed bit or something.

Just try not to stand next to anyone with long hair, lengthy cloth costume pieces, that sort of thing.

If there's one thing we don't want this year, its an accidental scalping. >>
