2010 AMV update
« on: February 25, 2010, 06:14:02 pm »
Hey there everyone

I'm getting a few messages now and then about submissions and other stuff so here is a brief update.

We are currently in the process of reworking our entire amv submission and presentation process. As one can expect, doing a full overhaul of an event this size does take a while.  But in the next few weeks I do hope to have some meetings with con staff to get some final details worked out, we had a meeting recently and some things got worked out, so we are making good progress.  Im hoping to get with some editors regarding new programs and making existing programs even better.

So the short story is yes im still here and still working on the event, just gunna take us a bit longer to make things as great as we can to remain a top level event.

thank you for your patience, but please feel free to message me at anytime with questions.

If I've submitted a video (via the form), how do I know if it was received?

If you didn't get an error while uploading the file and you didn't get an error after submitting the form, your submission was received.

Yea, if it goes through and the site confirms it is sent that is a good indicator it has been received. I do try to get emails sent to confirm as they come in, but it does get a little hectic some days and it doesn't always get done. ( my fault )   But you can always write me at amvs@ndkdenver.org  if you want to double check with me just to be sure.

What sort of playback system is being used this year? Is it worth submitting videos at something higher than 480p?

We got a spiffy new computer for playbacks this year with plenty of power to show high res videos,  bigger is always better.

I got my submission this year at full 1080p as my source was all HD. I was planning on resizing to standard def at 720x480, but would you like the HD version? I also have it in 720p as well if you would prefer that. I was going to start the upload tonight after work, so hopefully you see this in time, LOL.

Also, the HD versions are ready to go in H.264 mp4 format. That ok? Or you still prefer the Avi or mpeg container?

I typically prefer the bigger is better mentality.
If we have any issue with the file type we can typically work with it ( we give ourselves some wiggle time for this sort of thing)

Sweet  :)
I'll get you the biggest baddest version I got then, and we'll go from there.
Thanks for all your hard work on this Scott. Every year you make it a pleasure to participate and watch the contest!
One of these years I wont wait til the last day to send my submission  ;)

If i had a nickle for every editor who said "I won't wait till the last minute ever again"  I would be so rich I could pay someone else to do this :)
That's what makes me the best,  being prepared and available for anything.  ^-^

I plan to post a full list of vidoes to be shown in the contest and overload sometime next week prior to the convention.  Right now I have a second amv contest this weekend I need to worry about :)

If a person receives one of those special badges for the AMV contest does that mean they are in the main event amv contest?

All the editors who submitted a video received one. If you attend the editors banquet Friday, Scott will probably have the list of finalists in the main event.
