rude cosplayers
« on: January 18, 2010, 09:05:21 pm »
I dont know if this goes here or not, but at NDK 09' there was a particular cosplayer who was VERY rude all times me and my friends had contact with her. None of us ever said anything mean to her or tried to offend her she was just nasty unpleasant and entirely unfun to be around. the group she was with was not at all as bad as her but she did somewhat spoil the con  for me and the show she was cosplaying from. Now every time i see anything Female Ciel in the pink dress (from Black Butler) I get a nasty taste in my mouth. I'm not gonna say what she did just in case she knows who she is (even though she should) but the rest of the con we couldn't stop think about her and how freakin rude she was, and stuck up.

part of me thinks it was because she was actually a good cosplayer so she thought she was better than most of us. I know not all cosplayers are like this but I dont think ANY cosplayers sbould act like they are better than us just because they have a nice costume. Its almost ridiculous sometimes. I think of cosplayers no higher than i would me you or even a bum (ok maybe a little).

Next NDK I will not put up with rude attitudes. They ruin others enjoyment. Take compliments kindly not with a "yea I know" attidude. >:(

Unfortunately, when a large group of people get together there are bound to be some in there that have bad attitudes.   Its too bad you ran into some.  I hope that following years will afford more pleasant people for you to meet.  I have meet and retained great friends that I met through NDK.  I wish for you and others to have the same opportunities.

I would tell you to be courteous when dealing with these types of people.  I am not asking you to take their abuse but to be cautious when dealing with them.  I wouldn't want you to be reprimanded for doing something unsavory.  The best advise mught be to just nab a staffer and have them deal with it.

I UNDERSTAND EVERYTHING!

To clarify, we as staff can't do anything about rude people. As DJ Bullock said, you're bound to get some of them in any large group of people. The best you can do is try to ignore them and not let them get to you. But we can't reprimand anyone for not graciously accepting compliments or similar such behavior.

If, however, a person's rudeness becomes harassment--making inappropriate comments about you, continually pestering you, etc.--then it's appropriate to find a staff member and have them get involved. We don't tolerate harassment of our attendees, even if it's by other attendees.

I'm sorry that happened to you. Most of the people at conventions are really nice and fun (as they are all running on anime and sugar, lol) but if you run into a mean one, it might just be better to not hang around them. Usually I would say you might have caught her at a bad time but if it was like that all weekend, It just might have been her :<
And yes, Like DJ Bullock said, Try to be polite about it or you'll end up paying for their rudeness.

On that note:
there was one girl when i asked to take a picture she yelled... kinda sucked. anyways, just dont let it get to ya~
Most cosplayers are really nice and like to have their picture taken and while I'm fairly certain you didn't do this, just as a side not for everyone who might have had this happen.

Try to be nice to the cosplayers. If you run up to them and flail about while yelling at them for a picture while they were trying to eat, or having an important conversation, they probably wont be as nice to you as if you had come up and politely asked. And as cosplayers are human, some times they just have bad days.

everyone just needs to have a balance of politeness, tolerance, and courtesy.

That's a crying shame. How come you hung around this cosplayer so much if she was only ruining your time at the con? I would look for another female Ciel that was super nice to cancel out. Like -1+1 or something.

Keep your friends close, but your enemies closer. It pisses them off. XD
If you don't know what to make your signature, make this your signature. People might get mad when they read it though. I mean, all you're really doing is blathering on about nothing and taking up time that they could be using doing something productive like posting.

I didn't meet anyone rude to me at Ndk '09. Only one girl said no to having her picture, and it was either because she was talking to a friend or kinda shy (wasn't sure which o.o), bur other than that, my years of NDK have been fun. This year I'll be taking some friends to NDK as their first anime con, and I hope that nothing spoils it, though I have doubts it will :)

Sadly rude people are a part of every day life so they are very much a part of cons too...

I've been attending NDK for a while and I've definitely experienced my share of rude people. But the amount of kind, sweet, helpful people usually overshadows the rude ones! If you meet someone rude I'd say ignore them. Like people suggested, you could go find another cosplayer who's nice, and I'll bet you'll have a much better con experience.<3
