Activity Suggestion: Stand-up comedy contest

I'm sure out there we have many aspiring kon-goers that like to make people laugh. My little brother included, I'm sure many of them would enjoy a little healthy competition.

The winner would be chosen by crowd vote of course, though how long it would take and the process of choosing a winner would have to be determined by how many funny people join the competition. And I'm not sure what the placement prizes would be other than bragging rights and a title.

I'm not expecting this idea to make it to the main events room, even if it were held on the grass outside the hotel I think it would be a fun experience. Unfortunately I have little to no experience running an event like this, let alone planning it, so I would love some assistance setting this up.

LOL I actually have another idea for this, instead of starting this random contest, why not have a sort of 'Open-mic' night? that way there's much less pressure on the performers...

I would think the hook to be a must... or make the contests go through a trial or judging to make sure there would be (PG ensured and good comedic-ness to the event) 

OK  I'm pretty cynical when it comes to comedic events.. I've just been to to many that were way bad, and not enough good.  But I'd be in the audience in the hopes of a good time ^_^ I like comedy, and like the potential this has.  I hope you decide to give it a shot and submit a proposal for it!
