I was the Rude part of Friday, the Simon part of Saturday and Beat of TWEWY most of the con...including the sharp dressed yakuza Beat. I did see Nogardous alot and L4's phones. And I got to see good ol' Toadstool, Sporkie and the always lovable Katie. Didn't see Greg unfortunetly. Greg Vs. Toadstool...the epic battle at Wasabi lol.

I had fun seeing you guys! ^__^ It was nice to see that they didn't try to squish the artist tables into a 4 foot hallway this year. It meant you could actually browze the tables instead of getting swept along. Overall it was much better than previous years.
The person who says it cannot be done should not interrupt the person doing it.

Well, this was my first Wasabi, and I must say..  :/ I was not impressed with the hotel.
1. The room did not match up at all with the pictures they had on the website.
2. The light switches did not work
3. The quality of the TV was terrible.
4. There was broken ceramic in the bathroom.

And finally, the most inexcusable thing was.. The door did not lock. It got fixed, but in my opinion it shouldn't have been like that in the first place.

Oddly enough, a trashbag was taken from my room.  The room wasn't cleaned, just the trashbag I brought along to throw away stuff in was taken.  It wasn't full either.

The hotel staff seemed rather rude, of course it can be aggrevating to have otaku yelling about, dancing in the halls, and randomly glomping people.  But it felt like they didn't even want us there.  Although there were a few gems that were quite polite.

The convention itself seemed a little underwhelming.  Of course Wasabi is still a young convention, so it has room to grow, and with awesome people behind it, I can only imagine it getting better and better.

I am not trying to be a jerk, but I really don’t understand this thread.Why is everybody talking about AnimeLand Wasabi on the NDK forum? ; and why is this discussion continuing after the event ? And what is the point of complaining about AnimeLand Wasabi and hotel, on the NDK forum ?

I agree. As such, Greg, would you like to lock this thread, or what? Your call.

I don't see why there should be a reason to lock it.  AnimeLand Wasabi is full of NDK regulars, also this section is for meetups and events, many of which take place OUTSIDE of NDK.  We're not going to lock the threads about winter photoshoots, are we? Or requests for cosplay get togethers?  As I see it, this section provides a means to learn about get togethers within our community.  Inside or outside of NDK.

Let me step in here. We will not lock this thread...yet. Please stay on topic to the discussion of the convention and your views on it. Please refrain from further chatting and discussion of your cosplays in this thread. If it falls off topic again, I fear we will need to lock it down.

Thanks for your help everyone, and enjoy.

Lol, I saw u :p U took my picture in Dealers Room xD By the way, can I get that pic?

@Katie - Never SAW YOU D:

@Ruffian271 - Hehehe

@Michi - Who were you at the con? And I never got a room, so I couldn't complain about rooms. But the con itself was fairly small. Earlier in the morning it wasn't too cramped, but as the day progressed it got fairly harder to move around. >.<

@Toadstool - Who were you? I wonder if I saw u?

I will...once I get my camera back from my roomie. I left it in her car. There were tons of great cosplays this year including a grear ciel outside the dealers room on Sunday. I did get some crap at the dealers room and stuff from the artists alley for my roomie kuramacosplayer including TWEWY pins which I've been looking for.

Winter photo shoots and cosplay meet ups are not competing businesses with NDK.

Animeland Wasabi con has their own forum, why not talk about ALW  on their forum. You guys can give each other your ALW user name and discuss ALW on their forums

This thread is irritating me for three reasons

1) yes this is a meet up and event thread; but the event has already taken place. Don’t get me wrong, I am happy you all went and for the most part had a good time; but how long is this discussion going to continue.  Will it continue all year around and become a regular topic ?

2) the body of this topic had become less general discussion about ALW and more of detailed chatting.  Ã¢â‚¬Å“I cosplayed this”, “I took these pictures”, “I bought this in the dealers room”

3) ALW is a competing business with NDK; ALW is its own business

I just think this discussion is better placed on the ALW forum, particularly if it is going to be an on going and regular discussion; and if you brought this discussion to the ALW forum ,you could discuss your cosplay , and pictures, and stuff you bought from the dealers room’ ; without breaking any forum rules and regulations. Also; I think ALW would rather you talk to them about what you liked or disliked about their con; as apposed to talking to their competitors (NDK).

Well, for all that I'm fond of ALW, their forum really isn't as nice as this one, I think.  :)

I didn't stick around very long at ALW on Saturday - it was really neat seeing the Artist Alley, and being able to linger and browse in the Dealer's Room was a treat, but sadly we hit at a bad time for a lot of the events we were interested in, so we mostly browsed and left.

It's pretty obvious that the Red Lion Inn is already a bit too small for ALW though - I look forward to seeing where they're going to go next.  Maybe that Holiday Inn near Pena Blvd? :)

As long as the discussion remains about the con (e.g. what you liked and what you didn't, etc.) and this doesn't become a chatty thread about the silly things you and your friends did at the con, we'll leave this open.

And no, I didn't attend Wasabi. I had too much work to do, as it turned out. C'est la vie.

If the thread somehow "annoys" you (which is funny, since it apparently doesn't annoy the NDK staff...), you don't have to read it.  I'm just sayin'.

I did forget to mention my other peeve of the con - the badges, which came off a lot.  We had to punch a few holes in our table badge, because it kept ripping, and then we'd freak out because we couldn't find it...It was a mess.

I, too, really liked the spread-out Artist's Alley...It gave me the much-needed chance to stretch my sore legs, after sitting hours at a time at our AA table.  Having our table at the very entrance of the building, though, wasn't always so great, but at least we got to see a lot of people passing by, and, in turn, a lot of people saw what we had to sell.  It just was nerve-wracking when people decided to run by and sometimes bump into the table, causing us to scramble to make sure things didn't fall.  ._.
