Possibly, I am still looking for a room

I wouldn't be able to afford a room for this event AND NDK. xD Since most people agree Wasabi is smaller, I'm going to say I don't really need a room?

Does anyone really know about what kind of activities there will be there? I was also wondering (I have so many questions xD) if I should purchase a weekend ticket or if I would be okay only showing up for a day or two and not miss much.

Yeah, true, I do the same thing, I am only going for Friday and Saturday, sometimes I wonder why I even show up for Sunday on NDK, nothing much going on.

D= I noticed that too, actually. Maybe we should plan a meeting for NDK Sunday to make the ending really awesome? On another board...of course.

Back on topic please. Anyways, i've had a bad experiance with last years Wasabi, and I don't think I'll be going back for a while. the reason is personal, but I'd share with you guys the reason, in a PM.

Another reason I'm not going, is because of AX 2010 this year.

Just as a reminder, we don't mind that you talk about other cons, but the moment that you start event and/or activity planning we would strongly prefer you used their site and resources. Keep this in mind and please keep this thread on topic.

One rule, Saturday is always the best day to go to cons. This one, no exception. Wasabi this year is planning a Maid Cafe, and Uncle yo, the Otaku Stand up is coming back this year. Want more info, their site is www.animelandwasabi.ning.com have to join the site though, but its worth it.

yeah, Wasabi was my first con. it was nice to start out there, though. i would have been totally overwhelmed with NDK >W<
Its much smaller, and in a smaller hotel, but pretty fun. They have some insane activities though xD
....i remember one dealer yelled at me cause i got lost and was going to ask for directions, and apperently they were setting up. he scared me D:....

Quick Question: Is it easy to get lost in? D= I'm still pretty new to CONs in general..

I'll be there~! :3 I'm excited that it's in a new hotel... Maybe there'll be more places to eat or something. TO MAPQUEST, AWAAAYYYYY~! *coughcough*

Anyway, because of the new hotel, I'unno if it's easy to get lost in. The Dealer's Room last year was a mess... So confusing and people were just going whichever way they pleased. XD But I don't think it'll be so crazy, so... But back on topic, Here is a list of restraunts near the hotel... I think that's the correct Red Lion. :'D

That is indeed the correct hotel ^^ Also, to echo Intheschemeofthings that was amazingly helpful! I generally have no idea what's around a new hotel until like 5am the morning of a con, lol, as I don't have the foresight to think about looking before hand ^^

Just an aside, that area is still very industrial, just south of Commerce City. There are no sidewalks in that neighborhood and a lot of traffic. Make sure that if you go walking somewhere that you're extremely careful going.

It actually wasn't. If you explore a little bit before things get too crowded, its easy to remember where things are. But this year its at a different hotel, the Red Lion, i believe?
So it will be a totally different lay out, i cant really judge. sorry ><

For most people I think it just depends how long it takes you to get your bearings but it won't be easy to get lost at all ^^ Also, if for some reason you can't find anything keep in mind if you pull aside a volunteer or staff they'll help you get back on track ^^

Just to let you all know the area is perfect for the food situation but at the same time do as bob said and be very cautious of the idiots that drive. Don't wanna be catgirl roadkill thats for sure. There is tons of restaurants in the area including a Panda Express, Famous Daves, Ihop, Mcdonalds, a smash burger, a Walmart with a subway and a country buffet. And at my job at Shifters Bar and Grill on 58th and quebec (5797 quebec st.) we will be giving all wasabi con goers, staff and guests a 25% discount on your meals, per party excluding drinks when you wear you con badge to the restaurant. No you don't have to be 21 to come in (just to drink you do). And no any badge will do, pre regged or otherwise.

And I can't stress this enough guys... AVOID THE RED LIONS RESTAURANT!!! Its too expensive and not worth going too. Unless you're in the dorms.

I'm trying it out with one (or two) friend(s) this year. I just love going to cons because everyone I hang around with mainly despises anime (sad face) so cons make me feel accepted for what I like and allow me to break loose with my inner otaku xD

I'm kinda in the same boat as you are ^_^ This is why I was so excited to find out about another con so close to home xD

And nemesis, that's so cool your restaurant is doing that!! Thanks for the heads up ^_^

No problem. We did that when Wasabi first came in back in 08 and I am excited that my boss Ron allowed to have the wasabi discount back. Now for some plugging, we are known to have the best burgers and wings in town and we also have buffalo burgers as well. We got stew, mexican food, chips and salsa etc. Our prices are good especially with the discount, the bacon cheddar burger last I seen was 6 bucks with fries and our wings are now 6.50 or 6.25 for 10 wings (you can share too with 20 or 50 wings). If you're hungry during the con, come on by we love to have ya in. And it'd be awesome that you guys support a fellow otaku's place of work. We pride ourselves with every order.
