yah, i agree with purple-sama on this one ^^

i used to take classes with gmas dads uncles ect lol it may seem wierd at first cuz everyone your age is a higher rank than you, but when you all train together all that falls away, as long as you always do your best

I didn't start training in the martial arts till I was 24 or 25, like Nogardus said, it's never too late (your life won't end at 20, I promise).

I trained with and helped to train people both older and younger than myself. I especially loved working with the kids, even if it did remind me of Seinfeld (We're all the same skiiiiiiil level Jerry.)

Go for whatever you'd like to train in Hero.

man is it too late for me to do any martial arts at the age of 17?
You're only too old to train when your mind thinks so.  I didn't start seriously training in Shotokan until 25, so you're still a relative pup.  Prior to that, I had training in t'ai chi and kung fu off and on, but school always came first and eventually I had to stop it to focus on course work.

Besides, you should see my sensei.  He's almost 60 years old, has been training for well over 40 years, and can still sweep you and kick you twice before you hit the ground.  Absolutely unbelievable.  He demonstrated a darn near full speed ura mawashi keri (reverse roundhouse kick) on me and tapped me on the cheek.   I had to pick my jaw up off the floor once I realized what had happened.   :o

The interest is important ^_^ But so is actually practicing. I've met a lot of people who think they're special, and somehow gifted in the martial arts to the extent that they only need to watch movies to become a master! When in fact, I think they are actually several steps lower than someone who just walked in the door to their first dojo >.>

Not saying you are like that at all! But it happens a lot, we're anime nerds here; it's not uncommon for us. So if your really interested, you must take the plunge into the world of true martial arts!

I have a red belt in Taekwondo and want to go back! To be honest, I miss doing it and though the school I went to was out of Auraria Campus! I dearly miss my craft and would like to find an inexpensive Dojan (Korean)

I made it to blue belt in American Kenpo years ago. I'd like to finish up and earn my black belt but unfortunately the closest school to me shut down and I'd have to drive to C.Springs or Loveland from Parker for training and I just can't afford the fuel costs along with the monthly fees. Being married with kids changes your priorities a bit.

Even though it's been 10 years since I set foot in a dojo I do practice what I can regularly on my own. I really miss having other people to work with. When there was a school in Castle Rock I actually taught the kids and adult beginner classes in exchange for my student fees, that was a sweet deal

costs depend on the individual school. It's been a while but the school I went to was $50 a month for unlimited kids classes and $65 a month for unlimited adult classes

Also don't forget there are different styles, there is in the US three styles of Taekwondo, American Taekwondo Federation (ATF), International Taekwondo Federation (ITF), and World Taekwondo Federation (WTF). For many people that's confusing because ATF is cheaper and a little more watered down, mostly, i consider it lazy Taekwondo, then again, I'm biased toward WTF, which is originally from Korea, so is ITF, either style is good. Just remember that.

I don't know much about other schools, but most of the schools in Denver do run deals from time to time, it is all the matter of catching the schools during that time. I know the school near Southwest Plaza runs deals all the time. Its an ITF (International) one and the teacher there is amazing and wonderfully friendly. So basically he ran it by me that for adult classes at one time it was 60 dollars per month.

That sounds like a pretty good deal =)

Keep in mind those aren't styles of TKD, those are organizations. XD

Yeah, there are many TKD schools that focus much more heavily on competetion as opposed to actual self defense. Personally I prefer studying for self defense. I've known a few people that had a ton of trophies from competetions but couldn't save their lives in a real fight.
