I remember NDK 7 (2003) was my first one at the Holiday Inn by DIA. No pre-reg ticket and I remember standing in line for almost two hours to get my ticket. I also remember driving home on both nights very tired ! When NDK moved to DTC Marriott in 2005, I decided to spend the money for both nights at the hotel. Since 2007, I now take Friday off from work.

Hmm...Mine was in 1999, whichever NDK that was, I just remember I was a freshman in high school.  It was at the old hotel, before the Holiday Inn, and I remember going in, buying a one-day badge by myself (didn't have any anime friends then), and buying a Mokona from the dealer's room, back when Mokona was still only from Magic Knights Rayearth.

I still have and <3 my Mokona.  I remember getting to my parents car and showing them, and my dad asked "You bought a grinning marshmallow?" XD

The most memorable occurrence I experienced at NDK was several years ago... I can't even remember which con it was, but it was my first time going to NDK, back when I was in high school. There was an incredible Predator cosplayer there with a net full of skulls and a moving turret thinger on his shoulder and I flailed about him and took lots of pictures with a crappy store-bought camera, which later melted because I left it in my friend's car 8<

My first NDK memory and probably my favorite was the look on my Mom's face when we pulled up to the Hotel and she saw all the people in costume. She looked at me and told me with a smile that I was a "freak". And the poor thing, she told me she went to Wendy's to use the bathroom and was scared because of all the cosplayers there too. lol. That was back in 2006(my first NDK) she's long since gotten used to it but I shall always treasure that memory! XD

Going to the hotel where NDK used to be back in 2004 and being amazed at how many people were crammed into such a small space. :D  But it sure was a lot of fun.

Well, last year was my first year, but I remember seeing people walking along the sidewalk and knowing we were close to the Marriot. Also, in the lobby of the Hyatt, a girl was squeeing over my plushie. :3

My first memory was walking in the Tivoli Student Union and seeing all the sailor moon and dragon ball z costumes. I was hoping to see some more traditional (polite way of saying old school) Anime only to find out that no one knew what megazone 23 was and some thought Akira was a food item in the dealers room. Almost gave up on NDK but Rebecca who later took the reigns of NDK for a short time convinced me to continue to come and I am glad I did.

I have made a number of friends of all ages at the con - and now we meet there to catch up with each other and renew friendships...  Anyone here remember the year it was at the Tivoli??

First memory. My first convention was when it was held at the Holiday Inn off I-25. I remember just after registration in the main lobby I went through the door and felt like I had been warped into a different world. So many people. Some had costumes others did not. I was just trying not to feel overwhelmed by what I saw. I had enjoyed anime since I accidently discovered it in the Phillipines in the early 80's (sometimes we could get a TV feed from japan. Obviously though couldn't understand a word but loved the animation.) Until that moment at that convention did I have any idea just how popular anime had been at least in Colorado.

Since then I've been to every Nan Desu Kan. Even during the years I was extremely ill because of kidney failure (though didn't know it at the time). If you've ever seen me I was the guy dressed as "Blackjack" even though in reality my weight and build would have been enough for 3 of him.

I've had plenty of memories since then. This however was my first.

personally i think alot of our first memories of NDK are being overwhelmed in some way or another.  And just how at home it feels... The farther away my first experience gets, and the closer my next one comes, the more I remember the blissfull feelings of how awsome being there is.  It truly is an Otaku home.  (For those of you that know the litteral translation of Taku- Pun intended.  )

my first most memorable memory of NDK didn't actualy take place at NDK. while i was at ndk, i got used to seeing at least 70% of the crowd in cosplay. the monday after NDK, while passing a large crowd of people on my way to class, i couldn't help but think, "where did everybody go?"

my first NDK experience was a while ago, i was about 6, my mom volunteered, she took me with her and i was so scared. i got lost so i wandered around and these people dressed as he entire full metal alchemist group. they asked if i needed help, and if i was lost. i said yeah, and that i had lost my mom and couldn't find her. it was a fun day. i got to run around with an awesome group of weird people who helped me out a bunch. my mom was SO worried though.
