What was your first NDK memory?
« on: December 08, 2009, 05:57:54 pm »
My first NDK memory was that I was excited to see a whole lot of cosplayers!  Plus I just turned 17 this year and I celebrated by going up to NDK!!! And a woman bought me a replica Master Sword. It was awesome.

The revolving door...

Sarcasm aside, my first memory form NDK was "Sup guys (to my friends), What do you mean its happening right now!?!?" *Rushes over to panel*

Also the same as yours Hero...

My first memory was being able to find rollerblades cheep enough to paint and add to my Cardcaptor Sakura cosplay.  ;D  I still remeber rolling around the parking lot, at the Holiday Inn DIA, and seeing the wide eyed look of the little girl in a car that drove by.  So cool!
Don't diss the mouse! He may look like a pipsqueek but he does carry a keyblade and who knows, he may have Maleficent at his beck and call.

my first run-in with the NDK world involved a man dressed as a sailor scout and me running out of the hotel.

my first 'in-con' experience was just walking around and noticing that i wasnt as alone in this world o' fun as i thought. the randomness that spooked me i would come to enjoy after a while. then i met jason martin and that was my world  ;D

Coming to the Tivoli Center with the badges rolled up on a large uncut sheet of laminate, looking at the line going to registration and thinking "People actually showed up?"  :o

Being driven from Granby to the Sheraton with my best friend. There was a dude in the hallway who was assembling and painting $10 gundam models, I picked an unfinished one up out of a pile to look at it and he starts going "no no no, please please do not touch them" in this hilariously pathetic basement-dwelling manchild voice. Also, the discovery of AMVs. Holy crap, 8 years ago...

My first memory of my first NDK (why didn't I begin going sooner?) was walking into the hotel and getting slammed with a wall of hugely positive energy. Everywhere I looked, people were having fun, all decked out in fantastic costumes and smiling.

At first I thought "Oh lordy what am I doing? I don't really belong here," but then I straightened my shoulders and thought, "I will soon."

I proceeded to have one of the best times of my life. I was buzzed on good vibes the whole time, even if it was horrifically loud. ^n_n^

Mine started not to long ago.  Similar to Multi, it would be the shear culture shock of cosplayers practically every where i look.. and just coming up to the hotel was just.... amasing.... i felt the energy just hit me once i saw  like one or two cosplayers, i knew i was home.

The same as lusha. After seeing anime cons in game mags and on TV, I finally went in 06 (my first year and con). After seeing all the cosplayers and sheer randomness, I knew this was the place for me. Loved the atmosphere, the fun and awesomeness. Thank you gimme anime for your NDK commercial on [adult swim] changed my life.

Mine is my mother trying to get me to go to "some anime thing" happening in Denver for 3 years before we actually went in '05.
However actually getting within a block of the hotel, I saw a Sailor moon cosplay.  She was the most beautiful thig I ever saw ;A;
And I remember thinking~ "Oh its one of these deal-ies...interesting..." XD

My first one? Well, probably walking in and just knowing 'Yeah, I'm home now.' Though, the one that happen a bit after that was some guy in a purple unicorn sweatshirt and a skirt, who had a boom box. I dragged my friend on over to him and followed him for the whole tim we had a mini party. Huge conga line, dancing, then moving outside and dancing in a big ol' circle. It was so awesome! I always seem to be the only one that remembers that guy, though. ._. Which made me sad. That was on Saturday night back in '08. =D
Be happy for the ones you have lost, since they know now that you are not the one...

Planning on going to NDK NYE and NDK 2010! I'll be Advent Children Yuffie for one day, maybe Ritsuka, I'm going to do either a green haired Terra, or Kuja, and a secret project that nobody cares about. :D

Pulling up to the hotel and seeing a couple akatsuki members walking by.
Seeing The Ghost Busters Outback.
Having Harley Quin ask if she could hump my leg...
all this before I had even been in the hotel.

My first NDK memory was of a well sized guy who had short blondish hair, who laughed at me mockingly in the video game room. The guy resembles an Ogre.

My second memory was of a lot of other people laughing at me. I had gotten my first ramune and did not know what it was or how to open it (pop the marble); well anyway I walked around the con for an hour looking like ass trying to unscrew the plastic blue thing at the top of the bottle.

For being a chibi alucard, But many other people have laughed at me for this reason as well, so this year I have decided not to cosplay as alucard anymore. I am only 5 feet tall and I think the fellow who laughed at me goes by the name of BakuDan, and if you have ever seen this ogre he is a very big fellow and about 5 times my size, and I imagine I would look quite chibi and ridiculous standing next to him, so laughing would make sense.

This was in 2004/2005 errr the last year before NDK moved to the Marriot.

My first memory of NDK is at the old Holiday Inn. It involved standing in a line circling the building in very hot weather while staff was running up and down the line offering water to people so that they would survive long enough to see the actual con. Man I felt sorry for the people with heavy looking cosplays that day.

Man I wish I knew about NDK back in 04. The con was very close to where I live then.

My first memory was getting lost going to the hotel (Sheridan in Lakewood). Funny thing is I work on the campus right behind that hotel now.  Ahhh Good times.

Waiting in the slowest registration line ever outside the Holiday Inn and regretting that I left my camera at home that friday. I've pre-reged every year since then.
