what if we arent worried about spam and laugh at it? also can't they just see it from clicking on the icons under my avatar/pic?

We would rather not open up anyone to that sort of spam and so will enforce the rules equally across the forums, this includes anyone who may wish to receive spam.

And no, most data miners will not follow every link on a page, it's easier to scan just the postings.

(Additionally, those links only show for registered users. Profile information isn't shown to the world, which means bots won't see it. -- Greg)
