Another rare and underrated game is R.A.D. (Robot Alchemic Drive) on the PS2. You pilot the mech using all the buttons on the PS2 control. The L2 and R2 moves the legs, D-pad is the body, the analog sticks is the arms for punching and certain movements with the sticks does special moves like a rocket punch and the action buttons does missles, lasers etc. Crap voicework but deep original gameplay and controls never seen in a mecha game.
Same, Katie. Suikoden is amazing. I'd have to say that the Ar Tonelico series(Sort of odd, but still good once you get past it's flaws and extremely annoying child chara), Star Ocean(Always getting over shadowed by FF, though not as terribly as Suikoden), and the Xenosaga series.
I got one for you guys...Xenogears on the PS1.
