One game that is underrated and I highly recommend is Beyond Good and Evil on the PS2 and Xbox.

Beyond good and Evil also came out on the GC and is now avalible on steam for pretty cheap. But totally amazing game. Check it out

I'd say Jet Set Radio, No More Heroes and AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA - a reckless disregard for gravity are all fantastic games. I'm really looking forward to NMH 2

Another rare and underrated game is R.A.D. (Robot Alchemic Drive) on the PS2. You pilot the mech using all the buttons on the PS2 control. The L2 and R2 moves the legs, D-pad is the body, the analog sticks is the arms for punching and certain movements with the sticks does special moves like a rocket punch and the action buttons does missles, lasers etc. Crap voicework but deep original gameplay and controls never seen in a mecha game.

I'd say the Suikoden series, it always gets overshadowed by Final Fantasy.
The person who says it cannot be done should not interrupt the person doing it.

Same, Katie. Suikoden is amazing.  :D I'd have to say that the Ar Tonelico series(Sort of odd, but still good once you get past it's flaws and extremely annoying child chara), Star Ocean(Always getting over shadowed by FF, though not as terribly as Suikoden), and the Xenosaga series.
Be happy for the ones you have lost, since they know now that you are not the one...

Planning on going to NDK NYE and NDK 2010! I'll be Advent Children Yuffie for one day, maybe Ritsuka, I'm going to do either a green haired Terra, or Kuja, and a secret project that nobody cares about. :D

Ah, I haven't played Xenogears. Out of loop, here. xD
Here's a few more: .hack// series, Soul Calibur(Always overshadowed by Mortal Kombat, but not too seriously), and Persona.

Xenogears is a hard game to find on the ps1. It has a awesome fighting system and mecha is in here too.

xenogears was awesome. at first it seems rather bland then later on the game opens up with more to do. i remember the demo that came with Parasite Eve back then, which leads me to my next one.....
