Missing giftbag?
« on: September 15, 2009, 09:42:28 pm »
I'm not sure this is the right place; I'm really looking for a way to contact the 2009 con staff personally, but the site was not too helpful.

My name is Christina Williams; I attended NDK 2009 but had to leave Friday night as my mother--back in Texas--passed away early that evening. I left a giftbag with a con staff member, so that they could attempt to deliver it to another con-goer in my absence; however, they never received it, which is understandable, due to the size of the con, the limit of staff members, and how busy everyone was. Unfortunately, the contents of the bag were moderately expensive and also sentimental, and I would like to track down the staff member that I left it with--they should remember me--so that I can find the package and arrange for it to either be mailed back to me in Texas, or mailed to Canon City where its recipients live.

Thanks for all the help. I'm sorry I didn't get to spend more time at NDK, but what little I experienced was a blast, and I hope I can try again to attend in years to come!

Just letting you know, your friend posted this thread searching for the gift as well.

The gift is more than likely still in the possession of staff, and not too long from now ExecDirec should open up a 'Lost and Found' thread to allow people to claim items left behind or found during the con.  The 'Lost and Found' thread is probably the best place to connect with staff and have your friend claim their gift.  :)

I am very sorry for your loss.

Ha, don't apologize. It's not like you killed her, and while she is deeply missed, she had a chronic illness, and this was a long time coming. C: It would have been nice to have had it happen at a time where I wasn't on vacation, and several hundred miles from home, but what can you do? I'm not the first person to lose a parent, I'm not the first person to have a ruined vacation, and I won't be the last to do either. But...thank you. I'm so longwinded, I get that from her, actually!

@ Mag: Thank you. I had heard he had posted a thread here, but I had no idea where, and these forums are just the tiniest bit foreign to me. I'll keep an eye out for the thread then; can I ask what sub-forum it'll be posted in, so that I'm not shifting through blindly?

Lost and Found should appear in the General Support section soon enough.  Probably not till the weekend at the earliest, but it will appear, so keep checking back.

Thank you for your patience. :)
