Classic video games at NDK?
« on: July 22, 2009, 08:01:22 pm »
Serious question for folks passing their time in between activities at NDK.

How many of you would love to see some classics like the NES or Sega Genesis in the video game room?  I mean we got all the systems with most of the popular titles.

Mario Kart on the SNES anyone?  How about Sonic the Hedgehog on a real cartridge.  Contra on the 8-bit NES...do you remember the 30 lives code?

We have the space in the video game room!  Let us know!   8)

I'm all for the classics.  :)  I have many classic games that I still love to play, I'd certainly drop by the VGR to play some.

Clay Fighter II (SNES)?  Or... Tetris Attack(SNES)?  I like the thought of the original Mario Kart on the SNES.

How about Dr. Mario (NES) or Paper Boy (NES)?

If you do maybe you could get some of those systems that can play three Genesis, NES and SNES games, I dont know how much they are, but I know the ones that play NES and SNES are $40 new, I assume that the three cartridge ones are probably $50.

I know my brother would be interested, if you do, I will let him know

Yes please this is what we're looking for!  When I say we got em all we mean it!!!

Sega Master System
Turbografx-16
NES
Sega Genesis
Super Nintendo
Nintendo 64
Sega Saturn
Sega Dreamcast

As far as systems go I have them all and if we're gonna' play a classic it's gotta' be on the real system with the real controllers.  Virtual Console?  Bah!  Chinese system hacks?  Booo!  ;)

Killer Instinct on the N64?  DONE!!  Mario Kart on the SNES?  DONE!   Dr. Mario/Tetris for the SNES?  DONE!  What other great classics?

Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 on the dreamcast, Street Fighter 2, and since you have the turbografix what about some Splatterhouse? Also don't forget Megaman for NES and such.
Cosplays Planned:
Phoenix(Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney)
Captain Falcon (F-Zero, Super Smash Brothers)
Viral (Gurren Lagann)

Okay, okay.

I wouldn't mind seeing classic gaming at NDK.  I do appreciate the classics and do remember the 30 lives code for Contra, although there was a time I could beat the game without the use of the code (back in my prime).

I do like big pimpin father remington's suggestion of old space shooters.  I am a huge fan of the shmups.

For the Dreamcast, Power Stone and Soul Calibur.  For some more obsure-ish titles (I'm thinking two or more players here), JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Zombie Revenge, or Giga Wing.

For the Genesis, Streets of Rage 2 and Gunstar Heroes (both have two player modes).

For the SNES, other than Super Contra, there's Pocky & Rocky (which I *believe* had a two player mode (I don't exactly remember right off the top of my head).

I guess you could also include Playstation games as well (I'm talking about *PlayStation 1*, here).  I guess you could break out stuff like the original Guilty Gear, Raiden Project, Rival Schools and of course, Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo.

That's all I got right now.

I don't have a Colecovision, but I have Zaxxon 3D on the Sega Master system, with the 3D glasses BABY. Totally pimpin'.

However, I don't think those antiques will work with modern TVs. ;D

The legend of zelda?  Done!

Streets of Rage 2?  Done!

Marvel Vs Capcom 2 on the Dreamcast?  Done!

Splatterhouse on the Turbografx-16?  Done!

I like the suggestion of 2 player titles.  What fun is playing by yourself?

This is great gang.  You've totally got me digging through my collection.  I'm sure Bakudan and Alex got some more titles.

Alex, looks like I got a big job ahead of me...heh.

Keep the ideas coming.  More info to come as the convention comes closer to fruition.  ;D

I just thought of an awesome one. How about Master of Monsters for the Sega Genesis. That one is actually four players and it's a lot of fun!

Classic Mario on a real NES?  Done!

Master of Monsters...hmm...we'd have to ask Fozzy if we could borrow his copy.  I think he keeps it wrapped in bubble wrap.  No kidding.  Fozzy is a weirdo when it comes to the rare titles.  I just hope he doesn't *shudder* do things with them.

Remember...the staff are the only folks lending games.  I know it'd be great to show off private collections and a lot of you are more than generous to let us borrow but we gotta' keep the games between the Video Game Room staff.  We do, however, appreciate the kindness quite a few of you have shown in the private messages I've received.  We just can't have any of your hardware or software in the room.  Staff equipment only.   :-*

You absolutely need to bring PRIMAL RAGE. Fighting dinosaurs man, does anything else even need to be said?

As far as Marvel VS Capcom 2, it's coming out on 360 in 5 days, so you don't necessarily need to find a Dreamcast for it.

Radiant Silvergun would be nice. I wish I could afford 300 bucks, then I would own it.

Nice to see some love for Treasure around here.  Radiant Silvergun is two player as well and there are no power ups in the game for your friend to steal from you.  I believe Guardian Heroes has up to six player mode.  There is also the TEN player Bomberman on the Saturn as well.

In addition to Radiant Silvergun, other Saturn game recommendations: Dungeons & Dragons Collection, Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter, Vampire Savior, Twinkle Star Sprites, or if you want real old school, Virtua Fighter 2.
