The Masquerade is one of the dances that we have over NDK weekend.
There are two dances (they start after all major events) held in our main events hall, one on Friday and the other on Saturday.

I was going to give a summary of what happens each night, but there were too many holes in the description. I'm sure one of our epic DJs will be more than happy to fill you in. ^_^

Actually it depends some cons call their costume contest the Masquerade.  The Saturday night dance/rave was a very long time ago dubbed the "Masquerave" because we actually wanted to encourage people to dance in costume.  We never actually changed the name but most people just refer to the Saturday night dance as "The Rave" now.

A quick note before this gets locked! Bring your own glow sticks if possible! The kan staff is limited, and most are taken by people who don't plan far enough ahead to actually bring their own (or they just don't feel like bringing their own.) so if you have a little bit of time between now and con you can get them from Wal Mart for 1$ (or go to things that glow for the nice, shiny, fancy ones.)

The Kan has provided Glow sticks in the past but like Rumor said they are usually nabbed by people that just want something.   Best to bring your own.

Um no...   Tom Cruise is not there pretending to be straight and people have their clothes on.  So no.  Its not exactly like that.

Do you have to be in some costume to dance? At Rocky mountain Fur con you had to be in suit to dance in the masquerade. Does this apply here? and how can they tell if your in costume or not? I sadly cant afford a costume so Im going to throw together whatever I can and I know it will look stupid. :/ Many people dont wear alot of things as a costume so if you dont look like sailor moon or any other character, will you get turned away from the masquerade?

It's called the Masquerave with the key word being "rave".  Most people will be in street clothes but some will where costumes.
